The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is hyping up to be the biggest release on the Switch since the release of the Switch itself. However, this is a worrying sign for some fans, as it could mean the end of the Switch lifecycle.
The Nintendo Switch has been around for almost six years now and fans have been expecting a new console to come from Nintendo to push it into the next generation. With Breath of the Wild being the last release of the Wii U, fans are worried the same could happen with the Switch.
Is Zelda TOTK Going To Be The Last Switch Release
Many fans are worried that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be the last game to release on the Nintendo Switch. It’s quite easy to see where this worry comes from as well.
The Switch is already an old console by most standards, having been released back in 2017. Comparing this to the Wii U which was only 5 years old at the time of the Switches release.
There is also a trend of major titles being a sign of console changes. Breath of the Wild was a launch title for the Switch and was also one of the last games released for the Wii U before it reached the end of its lifespan.
While there is no way to say that this won’t be the last Switch game with certainty, the odds of it being so are quite low.
Normally another console would have already been announced if it was going to have TOTK as a launch title. Also, Nintendo seems to want to keep supporting the Switch with the Switch OLED released two years ago and a special version of the OLED coming out with TOTK.
Taking all of this into account, it would seem the Switch is around to stay for a little bit longer. But a new console from Nintendo will most likely be coming quite soon.
