It was discovered upon the early access release of Starfield that the game didn’t always function correctly on Intel ARC GPUs, now it seems Intel has promptly responded to the performance issues and released a driver update that would fix some problems. What was the problem?

Those who purchased the premium editions of Starfield to play through early access seemed greeted with some driver bug on Intel ARC GPUs. Starfield was crashing continuously and even failed to launch completely in some cases, this is not what you want when you spend extra money on a game just to play it early. Intel was aware of this issue.

Fortunately, the fantastic team over at Intel has since acknowledged and released a fix for the issues users are facing with the game.

Intel promptly releases a Driver fix for Intel ARC GPUs

Intel has recently released a new driver, driver version 31.0.101.4672 for Intel Arc A-Series Graphics and Intel Iris Xe Graphics, that supposedly reduced crashing and the overall issues players were having with Starfield on Intel’s GOU platform.

The brains at Intel continue to work extremely hard on its drivers for ARC GPUs, because of its continued efforts, these GPUs are now some of the best that you can buy for the money. Unless you want to play Starfield on them.

Intel released another statement ensuring that the Engineering team is hard at work, and that they are going to get Starfield as stable as possible for the official launch of the game.

  • The Graphics Driver package has temporarily increased to significantly reduce the Starfield* game load duration.
  • Several Starfield* game instability and visual artifacts have been fixed in this driver. High Preset and below are recommended to improve stability.
  • Efforts are in progress to further improve the overall gaming experience of Starfield* for Intel® Arc™ users in future driver updates.
