Latest Update: August 23rd – Latest Seer Update is now live!

August 16th – Mobile release date and pre-registration announced

Whilst season 10 of Apex Legends is well underway and serving its players well, many changes brought in with the big season update have caused some issues with gameplay and competitiveness. Respawn Entertainment, to their credit, has spotted this fairly quickly and has decided to do some small adjustments in the form of a new update – patch notes 1.78.

The new update will be deployed on August 10th, bringing weapons and arena price changes to the table.

What Is The Apex Legends Update Today? (August 10th)

The update is only a small patch that will see some minor changes to weapons and arena prices – deployed across all major platforms. Apex Legends developers have also come out stating that they will be bringing a full balance patch to the table as well – but this will be further down the road.

For now, here’s what the latest 1.78 patch notes say – taken from the official Respawn Entertainment Twitter account:

  • Fixes bugs with Seer’s abilities
  • Solves a script error that was sometimes triggered by an interaction between Fuse’s ult and Wattson’s ult
  • Reduces Prowler damage from 15>14
  • Reduces speed while ADSing with the L-Star
  • Fixes a map hole near Climatizer
  • Raises prices for the Prowler and L-Star in Arenas

Prowler & L-STAR Nerfed, At Last

One of the more popular changes that will come into play during the Apex Legends update today will be the nerfing on the Prowler and L-STAR. After a large portion of the community started to complain about the power of the Prowler, Respawn Entertainment has decided to reduce its power from 15 to 14 – which should alleviate some of the issues we’re seeing.

Furthermore, the L-STAR will also feature a similar nerfing, with a reduction in speed whilst ‘ADSing’. Players will see a clear reduction in movement speed when using this weapon, helping to level the playing field.

Alongside these changes, users will also see an increase in the arena prices of both weapons. They’ll likely still be some of the most popular weapons in the game, only with a more competitive and balanced pricing.

How Long Before The New Apex Legends Update?

Respawn Entertainment also made it quite clear that they would be releasing a balance patch for Seer – which should be launching some time ‘next week’. Whilst it’s unclear exactly when that patch will be going live, many of the game’s recent updates have landed on a Thursday.

In terms of expectations, here’s what a Respawn Entertainment gameplay engineer said in a recent Reddit AMA:

“Seer has launched strong, which was the hope. He’s also brought a lot of new gameplay elements to the game (HP bars, interrupt) which has driven a lot of discussion with players, which is great to see. With that being said is probably a bit too strong at the moment and will receiving some balance updates in an upcoming patch”.
