Cyberpunk 2077 showcased in the first episode of Night City Wire

CD Projeckt Red are showcasing their hotly anticipated open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077, in a new series of regular updates building up to the release. Night City Wire is streaming live on twitch, giving us a taste of what to expect from the game.

The game is looking utterly gorgeous in this footage, with some beautiful looking environments, and some real visual flair behind all the different character designs.

We also just heard that players on both Playstation and Xbox consoles will be able to play the game on their current generation console of choice, plus at a later date, an updated next-generation version will be made available at no extra cost. Even on day one, you’ll be able to play the current generation version on the newer systems via their backward compatibility feature, but a dedicated next-gen version is in the pipeline to take greater advantage of their upgraded hardware.

CD Projekt Red has partnered with Studio Trigger and Netflix to develop the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a standalone story set within the world of the video game. It’s intended to be a gateway for anime fans to connect with the game.

Cyberpunk Braindance

We saw a new gameplay trailer highlighting the “braindance” mechanic, a method for experiencing memories of others as if you were there in person. This is going to be used for narrative purposes and to let you investigate past events. You can analyze these events to explore details that you might have otherwise missed. We’ve seen similar mechanics in other games like Arkham Origins and Life is Strange, but the presentation and detail here is pretty impressive. Particularly neat is blending experienced memories with CCTV footage of the vicinity to get a wider view.

Check out the full stream here, and let us know what your excitement level is for Cyberpunk 2077, which is set to be one of the biggest games of the year. They’ll be back with episode 2 of Night City Wire in “just a few weeks”.
