A leak on Twitter claims that several vaulted weapons will be returning to Fortnite in the next season and fans are buzzing about it.

The timing of this leak comes as a surprise to many as the newest season just recently dropped. Not only are players excited about their favorite weapons returning, but some believe that these leaked soon-to-be unvaulted weapons may have lore implications in the overall Fortnite story.

Fan-favorite Mythic weapons may return with lore

In a Twitter post by iFireMonkey, a list of potential unvaulted Mythic weapons was leaked for Chapter 4 Season 4.

iFireMonkey had this to say about the leak, “As a note, I have no clue how the Mythic Unvault system is going to work for next season, could be all at once, could be gradually throughout that season, or could be something else. It was randomly added to multiple different cheat scripts with this update and since the next season is two months away, we just gotta wait and see what happens.”

The list of potential leaked weapons is as follows:

  • Gunnar’s Stinger SMG
  • The Foundation’s MK-Seven AR
  • Zyg and Choppy’s Ray Gun
  • Overclocked Pulse Rifle
  • Havoc Pump Shotgun

Starting at the top, Gunnar’s Stinger SMG was last made obtainable by defeating Gunnar at Command Cavern in Chapter 3 Season 2 before being vaulted in Chapter 3 Season 3. The SMG was a force to be reckoned with– 264 DPS, a headshot multiplier of 1.5x, and a fast reload time.

Moving down, The Foundation’s MK-Seven Ar was introduced in Chapter 3 Season 1 before being vaulted in the following season, however, the weapon was still used by The Foundation’s AI. This AR is the fastest-firing one in the game. The high fire rate of this AR made it function close to SMG but still excelled in medium to long-range combat.

Zyg and Choppy’s Ray Gun was first seen in Chapter 2 Season 7, obtainable by eliminating the Zyg and Choppy boss at Hydro 16. This mythic weapon had an infinite magazine size (with a cool down) and a DPS of 180. Not the heaviest-hitting weapon in the game, this ray gun variant deals consistent damage for long periods of time before cooling down.

Next, the Overclocked Pulse Rifle is making a return after being vaulted in Chapter 4 Season 3. This weapon stands out from the list due to it having completely different stats with hip fire and ADS. When fired from the hip this mythic boasts a DPS of 237.5, but accuracy is dropped severely. When aiming down sights, the slow rate of fire decreases the DPS to 199.5, but the damage from each shot is clocking in at 57. The Overclocked Pulse Rifle will make for a versatile weapon after its short stint in the vault

Finally, the mythic version of the Havoc Pump Shotgun appears to be making a return after a  brief time in the vault from Chapter 4 Season 3. Like most shotguns, It is a high-damage, short-range, and slow-firing weapon, best suited to very close quarters.

Twitter user @Minecraftjwast pointed out that each weapon has a corresponding faction or character from past installments such as Gunnar’s Stinger SMG belonging to a member of the Imagined Order and The Foundation’s AR belonging to a member of the Seven that has now been corrupted.

@Minecraftjwast posted, “Next seasons could be about factions based on the mythics alone.”

The factions being referenced have been seen in previous seasons with stories revolving around the fight for the Zero Point, a Nigh-Omnipotence lore entity. This has led players to believe that the next story for the season will revolve around this as Zero Point is petrified as of now.

Twitter user @Metuselah0 commented, “Man, the new season just started. It hasn’t even cooled out of the oven yet, but I’m already interested in what will happen next season.”

Whether or not you are in it for the lore, the return of these weapons is sure to shake things up in the next season of Fortnite.
