News broke last night about Blizzard officially canceling Overwatch 2 PVE. Fans have been waiting patiently for the Hero mode since release, however, the development hasn’t really taken place. During a live stream, “Dev Chat” Jared Neuss went into detail about cutting PVE mode while chatting about the game’s roadmap.

While PvE mode has been removed the developers mentioned that PvE is still a focus for the future, however, Aaron Keller while speaking to Gamespot stated “We are doing part of what the team had set out to do, but not the entirety of what was discussed back at BlizzCon 2019. So the real focus is on the story missions and that experience as opposed to the more open-ended hero mode and that stuff.

PvE mode was one of the main features of the sequel and many felt the whole reason for its being. As you can imagine, fans are not happy but what is planned in the roadmap?

Devs talked about Seasons 5, 6, and 7 mostly and the hope is that the story missions coming in Season 6 will go a long way to healing wounds fans may have over recent developments. New maps and new support heroes are also set to come this year, however, it seems like the dev team involved with PvE and fans alike are still a bit sore over this cancelation.
