Pokémon Unite has a new update that improves multiple Pokémon and adds a lot of balance changes. This one is hefty so if you’re a competitive player, be sure to look for your favorite Pokémon. These notes are from the official website.

Pokémon Unite Patch 1.12.1.2 Notes

While we all wish for Box Legendaries to be nerfed into the ground and never have to see them again, the general pattern for other changes seem to be going at the balance with a chisel rather than the sledge hammer- which I’m not opposed to. Plus with the introduction of two (really one, just a duplicate for different damage types) held items, there may just be a shake up we need.

Mewtwo X

More nerfs. Hooray! Future Sight was a bit too much control in duration and frequency of pulling players out of position. This change addresses that. Infinite Psyburn is a little less infinite now. Getting critically hit early and at the fixed attack speed Mewtwo X received while in Mega form thus allowing more rolls for crits was incredibly annoying and unfun. Lowering the crit rate should help with this experience.

Future Sight [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 7.5 seconds -> 9 seconds
Stun duration decreased: 0.75 seconds -> 0.5 seconds

Unite Move: Infinite Psyburn [NERFED]

Energy Requirement increased: 100000 to 120000
AKA
Cooldown increased: 112 seconds -> 134 seconds
240% Atk + 11 x (Level – 1) + 550 -> 190% Atk + 11 x (Level – 1) + 500

Natural Stats [NERFED]

Critical Chance:

  • Level 1: 0 -> 0
  • Level 2: 0 -> 0
  • Level 3: 0 -> 0
  • Level 4: 0 -> 0
  • Level 5: 10 -> 5
  • Level 6: 10 -> 5
  • Level 7: 10 -> 5
  • Level 8: 10 -> 5
  • Level 9: 20 -> 10
  • Level 10: 20 -> 10
  • Level 11: 20 -> 10
  • Level 12: 20 -> 10
  • Level 13: 20 -> 10
  • Level 14: 20 -> 10
  • Level 15: 20 -> 10

Mewtwo Y

Round one! NERF! Future Sight is once again being a problem. Damage is being capped as well as its cooldown being raised. Similarly, Recover’s cooldown is increasing which makes controlling the Mega evolve a little bit harder. Finally, Infinite Psyburn is similar to Mewtwo X, not so much infinite now but smaller infinity is still infinity.

Future Sight [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 8 seconds -> 10 seconds

Recover [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 10 seconds -> 12 seconds

Unite Move: Infinite Psyburn [NERFED]

Energy Requirement increased: 100000 to 120000
AKA
Cooldown increased: 112 seconds -> 134 seconds
212% SpA + 14 x (Level – 1) + 680 -> 180% SpA + 12 x (Level – 1) + 580

Tsareena

The official patch notes indicated 20% shield and 25% healing increases however through rigorous testing and experimentation, UDB has determined the official patch notes are incorrect. What we have noted is that prior patches have always adjusted RSBs percent wise together however for this patch the RSB values have been changed separately with the Base value being decreased. We calculated that if the difference in base values for healing were added to the older values, we would see the 25% healing increase that has been written on the official notes.

Ratio: 30% Atk -> 40% Atk
Slider: 2 -> 3
Base: 30 -> 20

Writer’s note: If Base were changed from 30 -> 40, we would see the 25% healing increase.

Writer’s note: If Base were maintained at 300, we would see the 20% shield increase.

Umbreon

Still somewhat oppressive, Umbreon’s staying power in a fight should be impacted by the introduction of Cursed items however even with those two items, Snarl’s uptime to be Hindrance Resistant and the intensity of the stat reduction was still a bit too high. This change should make Umbreon more manageable.

Snarl [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 9s -> 10s

Attack and Sp. Atk decrease intensity reduced: 6% -> 4%

Aegislash

Aegislash is being offered the tiniest bit of sharpening. It’s certainly not unwelcome.

Stance Change [BUFFED]

Slider: 10 -> 15
Base: 40 -> 40

Gengar

Gengar’s getting some stat love.

Pikachu

Pikachu’s Thunderbolt and Thunder set could be compared to Ninetales’s Avalanche Blizzard set with less control and more compressed damage. These changes look to bring Pikachu into contention as a substitute for Ninetales for those who prefer to play the electric mouse. Frankly it’s been a while since Pikachu’s been taken a look at and this is a good time to nudge him into a decent spot given being a starter and release Pokémon.

Thunder [BUFFED]

Cooldown decreased: 8s -> 7.5s

Damage – Area (5x):
Ratio: 20% SpA -> 22% SpA
Per Level: 5 -> 5
Base: 210 -> 230

Thunderbolt [BUFFED]

Cooldown decreased: 8s -> 7.5s

Ninetales

Ninetales has seen a large amount of play on the ladder. It’s a powerful early game Pokémon that scales fairly well into late game. A little too well perhaps with how frequently its Avalanche Blizzard combo is available and the area of effect providing both damage, control and zoning make it a little too powerful. It’s been nerfed with an ice pick though and not a hammer so I think this is a good change.

Avalanche [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 7s -> 8s

Blizzard [NERFED]

Cooldown increased: 7s -> 8s

Cramorant

Unite Move: Gatling Gulp Missile

Fixed a bug that sometimes shot more Arrokuda than intended.
