For every new and highly anticipated TV, there is a persisting question: “Will it be bright enough?” And fortunately, Sony tells us the A95L will be for sure. But why wait until the end of the Summer to be certain? From everything we know for now, we’ll analyze and see whether it’s just the hype, or whether Sony A95L really transcends the borders of current TV brightness capabilities.

Sony A95L per-order deliveries are set for end of summer 2023!

Is the Sony A95L OLED?

For starters, Sony A95L utilizes QD-OLED technology, which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Unlike traditional TVs that use backlighting, OLED panels are capable of emitting light directly from each sole pixel, resulting in unparalleled contrast, inky blacks, and precise control over brightness levels. Especially with layers of quantum dots, OLED screens boast insane brightness levels – some devices getting to the whole 2000 nits! Sony says that the A95L will be 200% times brighter than the previous year’s A95K, which would poise it to have a peak brightness of 3000 nits. It remains to be seen whether Sony made an exaggerated boastful claim, or has truly prepared something magnificent for us.

One of the key strengths of the best OLED TVs is their ability to achieve true blacks. When OLED pixels are turned off wholly, they emit no light, resulting in an absolute, “true” black that insanely enhances the picture quality. In standard TVs, this results in “blooming” or halo effects around bright objects on dark backgrounds, diminishing the contrast level and the visuals overall.

The touted amazing brightness levels should enable Sony A95L to perform even better in well-lit rooms or when watching HDR content that usually demands brighter highlights. That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to place the TV where it’s not the brightest or have window covers ready to assist you in your movie or gaming adventures.

Is the Sony A95L bright enough?

Is the Sony A95L bright enough? It’s one of the best as the brightness goes, from what we’ve seen from Sony so far. OLED technology’s contrast levels, mesmerizing imagery, and color accuracy all add to the experience that cloudless sunlight won’t ever be able to diminish. And just wait until you turn the lights off – Sony A95L will take you by the hand, right into the magical, colorful world of whatever is on the screen. Not literally, of course, but you’ll be on the higher end of the captivation spectrum, that’s a given.
