14600K vs Ryzen 5 7600X specs, sources: Intel, AMD
We’ve had confirmation of the Intel Core i5-14600K specs since they were unveiled on the Intel site, and, as rumors suggested, it doesn’t appear there is much in the way of ground-breaking change from the i5-13600K before it. This is a Raptor Lake Refresh, not a completely new architecture, with the i5-14600K having the same number of cores, albeit a higher base clock speed and boost clock.
AMD Ryzen and Intel CPU core counts and thread counts operate differently, so the much smaller number of cores on the Ryzen CPU listed above doesn’t necessarily mean a proportional decrease in multi-performance. Still, as we will discuss below, the Intel CPU does likely have a substantial edge in this area, so it certainly contributes.
14600K vs 7600X performance
Tests show that the Intel Core 15-14600K offers around a 6% single core performance increase over the i5-13600K (the more important factor when it comes to gaming) and a 11% multi-core performance increase (more important for many workstation/creative software).
We already know that the previous gen i5-13600K is about 6% faster than the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X in gaming and single-core scenarios, which would indicate that the i5-14600K could be around 12% quicker in gaming, though this will obviously depend on what game you are playing. Based on the same sources, multi-core performance will likely end up being considerably greater – possibly as high as 50-60%.
14600K vs 7600X price
Pricing for the latest 14600K has now been confirmed, as the product has been listed on the sites of various retailers, including Overclockers in the UK. Below we’ve listed the price for the new chip in both the US and UK. As you can see, it is similar to the price of the preceding generation processor, but with a slight $19/£20 increase that amounts to around 6-7%. You can read more about the Intel 14th gen price on our dedicated guide.
This is in contrast to the Ryzen 5 7600X, to which is available for considerably cheaper. back when it was released it sold for $299, but prices have dropped since then. Prices fluctuate on Amazon considerably, but the typical retail price over the last year has been around $249 in the US.
14600K vs 7600X final word
So in the battle of 14600K vs 7600X, which should you go for? Based on what we know, the Intel i5-14600K costs around 28% more for a possible single-core performance increase of around 12%+ and a multi-core performance increase of around 55%+. In short, the Ryzen CPU seems to offer better value for gaming, though it isn’t as powerful, however for creative/workstation tasks where multi-core performance is important, the Intel CPU may have a significant advantage in both power and value.
