While the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB is very much the center of attention right now, for many of us, it also presents an opportunity to look at alternatives to the card itself.
Luckily, if you’ve been weighing up your options between the upcoming 4060 Ti 16GB and the popular RX 7900 XT, we’ve actually found a deal that may be just what you needed to make your decision…while stocks last at least.
At the time of writing, you can get this Asus TUF Gaming RX 7900 XT OC Edition 20GB graphics card for a cool $200 off at Amazon, taking its price down from $1,099.99 to just $899.99. That’s a solid saving if you ask us, but should you go for it? And how does this card stack up against the upcoming 4060 Ti 16GB?
Well, according to our resident GPU expert, Sebastian Kozlowski, this particular card is “much better, and capable of running 4K performance without a memory limitation, as although the 4060 Ti has 16GB it’s limited to 288GB/s compared to the 800 GB/s of the 7900 XT.”
He goes on to say that this particular card has a few other standout points that make it an excellent choice in its own right.
“It has a good cooling solution, and you’re getting high-quality with the TUF cards. It’s also overclocked so has a higher clock rate than the base model, meaning you’ll be able to get a couple more FPS in performance.”
Here’s a closer look at the specs for the card itself:
- Axial-tech fans that deliver 14% more airflow, for advanced cooling.
- OC Mode: Can deliver up to 2535 MHz (Boost Clock) and up to 2175 MHz (Game Clock).
- Miltary-grade capacitors are rated for a whopping 20,000 hours at 105C.
- Exosketon is metal, which helps with heat dissipation.
Should you go for the deal?
The big question here is whether you should go for the deal now, or wait till the 4060 TI 16GB releases. In terms of the deal itself, saving $200 on a high-quality GPU is pretty good, and does allow you the cash to put into other components, such as a new CPU, PC Case, or even a decent monitor.
The card itself does appear to be better than the upcoming RTX 4060 Ti on paper, but that’s to be expected as the 4060 Ti comes in at an MSRP of $499. But for what you’re getting for the new reduced price, we think this deal offers good value for money and is well worth considering.
