Much to the joy or dismay of players, World’s Edge is finally leaving the Apex Legends Map rotation. World’s Edge has been in rotation for two seasons now, and whether you love it or hate you have to admit, it’s been around for a little too long now. Replacing it is Olympus, the beloved (and hated by some) airborne map!

But Olympus has changed since we last saw it, supposedly damaged by the new Legend, Mad Maggie. Multiple hallmark locations in Olympus have thus been changed, either to tweak the gameplay or to add new elements altogether. We’ll go through the changes here:

Phase Driver

Phase Driver is in the southern side of the map, which has been newly expanded. And during a particular phase shifter malfunction, there’s now a whole lot of debris scattered around the Phase which players might be hindered by or can use to their advantage when taking on another squad.

The Phase Driver remains a high-tier loot area, so it’s always a good place to drop and hopefully you can get the drop on your enemies.

In addition, there’s new routing options on this side of the map, meaning a variety of the surrounding Points of Interest are now connected. This might be useful for a getaway but it could equally mean that this area will often be swarmed.

Interactive Phase Driver Device

Although unstable, players can still interact with the Phase Driver. When activated, 3 loot rollers will phase in. At least 1 Gold-Tiered ball is guaranteed each activation and there is a 45 second cooldown before it’s able to be activated again.

But what’s a reward without some risk? Therefore, each activation will make a loud noise that can be heard by players in the surrounding area. Alerting others that people are at the Phase Driver looting up, so be alert farming that loot.

Terminal

Terminal is the area where you can hop into the Phase Runner tube, and although this place is largely the same. One important changes has been made to make gameplay both easier and more interesting.

Terminal has 5 different entry points and exterior elevated platforms, Terminal’s presence and effect on the surrounding area will change the way players flow and engage in the open areas around Labs and Bonsai Plaza.

The interior is designed to keep people flowing and engaging between the platforms/entry points, being visually open enough for opposing squads and 3rd-parties to be spotted before getting too close.

Terminal replaces that lower, exposed choke that went under the Phase Runner connecting Labs to Bonsai. Getting between these two zones is a little easier and more interesting now.

Hopefully, this means you won’t be caught with your hands up and instead you’ll be able to tactically manoeuvre around this area.

Moved Areas

Various areas have been shifted and moved, though not completely removed from the game. Instead, you’ll notice that because Phase Driver needed to be connected to the Phase Runner, existing areas like Solar Array’s, Icarus’, and Bonsai’s platforms were all pushed out away from the center of Olympus to fit this new chunk of land.

There are a variety of other small tweaks and changes, but none quite as major as the aforementioned ones. Though, hopefully you’ll enjoy this new Olympus! But be careful, don’t fall off!
