Does Dead Island 2 Have Ray Tracing?

Nothing can make a game look nicer than having ray tracing enabled and fans are looking forward to this for Dead Island 2. Many Triple-A titles are releasing with the option to turn on ray tracing, so fans are expecting Dead Island 2 to follow suit. Unfortunately, Ray Tracing is not available in Dead Island 2 – let’s delve into why this could be.

Is Dead Island 2 Ray Tracing Enabled?

Sadly, Dead Island 2 does not seem to have the option to turn on ray tracing in any way. This might seem a bit shocking as many new releases seem to have this option. However, Dead Island 2 has been in development for so long, that ray tracing was not a big thing when it began development.

Just because it does not have ray tracing right now, does not mean that it won’t receive it in the future. Ray tracing technology is advancing so fast that it is getting to the point that it can be added into already released games as a part of ultra HD textures and the like. So receiving a ray-tracing DLC for Dead Island 2 down the line is quite possible. just make sure your system can run the highest settings available now.

Even if Deep Silver doesn’t release ray tracing for Dead Island 2, the modding community could step up and make a ray tracing mod themselves. This is not unheard of but much less likely as the amount of effort to implement it for a single modder or a small modding team is quite high.

Even without ray tracing, Dead Island 2 still looks very nice by modern game standards. Many are calling it one of the best-looking PC games at the moment. Ray tracing would just go a bit further to make it look that much nicer if added.
