It’s not uncommon for games to have multiple endings, and it most certainly depends on how you archive through the game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of them. So, be sure to play this game before you play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As mentioned above, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does have two endings.

How to get the true ending in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The first ending is a standard one where, after an intense battle against Ganon, Zelda seals him away. After that, Zelda and Link will look toward Hyrule Castle. This is where the scene ends, and is the ending you get if you haven’t completed the game.

You must obtain all of Link’s Captured Memories to get a true ending. This is part of the main quest that Impa will give you in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild game. In total, there are twelve Memories you need to obtain. To help you out, we will name all of Link’s Memories and their Location.

  • Subdued Ceremony is found in the Sacred Ground Ruins.
  • Resolve and Grief can be found in the Kolomo Garrison Ruins
  • Zelda’s Resentment will be in the Ancient Columns
  • Blades of the Yiga will be in the Kara Kara Bazaar
  • A Premonition is in the Woodland Stable
  • Silent Princess is in the Royal Ancient Lab Ruins
  • Shelter from the Storm is in the Deya Village Ruins
  • Father and Daughter will be in the Hyrule Castle
  • Slumbering Power is in the Spring of Power
  • To Mount Lanayru will be in the Sanidin Park ruins
  • Return of the Calamity Ganon is in the Lanayru Road
  • Despair will be in the Bottomless Swamp

Once you have all your memories, you will go off the fight against Ganon. Once the battle has ended, in the true ending, you will see Link and Zelda gaze upon the land of Hyrule and talk about all the things they still need to accomplish.
