Passing the ball is paramount to the gameplay in EA Sports FC 24, the rebranded FIFA. Unless you’re playing against a bad opponent or with an extremely highly-rated player, it’s nigh impossible to dribble through a defense and score as one player. Scoring usually requires a lot of passing and a lot of patience. Assists are almost as valuable as goals scored, so it’s good to know how to get them.

How can I get assists in EA Sports FC 24?

Every once in a while, especially during a player career, you will need to know how to get an assist. Your player is often tasked with doing so, and that’s a lot harder to do than scoring a goal because it relies on someone else. To do so, there are some things you can do.

First, you can upgrade your passing. Spending skill points in that area will improve your passing and make assists easier to come by. Still, they require another player, so there are things you can do.

When you have the ball, don’t look to shoot. That may be counterintuitive, especially if you play striker or forward, but it’s the easiest way to get an assist. If you can draw the defense towards you, another player can have a better shot.

This is especially true if you are able to draw the keeper out. That’s easier said than done, but if they come out to stop you, it leaves the goal more open on the other side in EA FC, which has Manchester City star Erling Haaland on the cover. If you have a teammate there, they should have an easy goal.

The playstyles of your teammates do matter. Some of them prefer to pass, but if they have an open shot like that, they will take it. Provided nothing weird happens, they will bury it and earn you an assist.

This is magnified on a breakaway. If your player is out in front and not offside, wait a bit for a teammate and slot them the ball with an open shot in front of goal. They still have to hit it, but the chances for your assist will be high.

If you’re not a striker or don’t find yourself in those positions, there are other things you can do. If you time a through ball well, you can get your forward on a breakaway. A lob pass over the top can have the same effect and give easier access to an open shot.

On that note, you can also get wide and send a cross into the middle. If someone finishes it, you will get an assist. The same is true if you are the one who takes the corner kick. Any position, whether it’s defensive midfielder, center back, left mid, or even the goalkeeper, can get an assist.

You can play in the Premier League, MLS, Bundesliga and more on September 29 when FC 24 releases for all platforms and consoles.
