FC 24 is the latest game from EA Sports in the world of football (not to be confused with other football, where Madden 24 is the latest from EA). In years past, fans of the sport have been able to pick up a yearly copy of FIFA and play with Lionel Messi, Manchester United, PSG, Kylian Mbappe, and all their favorite teams and players. This year, that won’t be possible since FIFA is no more. Are these two titles the same game?

Is EA Sports FC 24 the new FIFA?
EA Sports FC is the renamed version of the FIFA franchise. It’s not called this, but think of FC 24 as FIFA 24. It is the same game from the same developers. The only thing that’s changed is that it’s not a FIFA game anymore.
FIFA is the name of the World Federation of soccer (football), so it was like calling the Madden games NFL 23, for example. EA and FIFA had a partnership that ended after FIFA 23. The federation wanted a lot of money from EA to allow them to continue licensing the name. Electronic Arts didn’t think that was wise, so they opted to rebrand.
Nevertheless, it’s the same game. The gameplay is the same, though with improvements over the last game as always. Ultimate Team is still called FUT, and it’s still present in the game. All game modes, like career mode, Pro Clubs, Volta, and more are still in the game. You can still hit powerful shots, build a dominant squad, visit world stadiums and more. FC 24, in fact, will have new playstyles, better motion capture (with volumetric data), more coaches, new heroes, HyperMotionV, and more.
Consider FC 24 the new FIFA 24. After the 30-year partnership ended, they rebranded as FC, which stands for football club. It’s the same game under a new title, so nothing has changed except the yearly updates. That means player ratings, UT cards, and more have been updated in the new game.
Pre-orders (either for the Ultimate Edition or Standard Edition) for FC 24, the renamed FIFA series, are available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Drop into the Champions League, Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and others on September 8 when the game, with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland as the cover star, experiences its launch.
