EA Sports FC 24 is back with Player Career Mode, this time its own separate section on the main menu. Here, you can become an absolute star for any team in Bundesliga, the Premier League, and more. As you play through, your player will need to get better. A starting overall rating of something in the 60s is not going to cut it if you want to lead your team to League or UEFA Champions League glory. Here’s how you get a better rating.

How do I upgrade my players in EA Sports FC 24?

Upgrading your Ultimate Team players is a fun wrinkle added to FUT. This is done through evolutions. As you continue playing, better players and cards come in to the game. That leaves some of your players on the outside looking in. Say you’re a fan of a player and want him on the squad, but his overall rating is not good enough.

The evolutions new feature can help you there. Any player who fits the requirements can be evolved, and that includes all promo cards and TOTW cards that will release this year. There are two ways to evolve a player in FC.

The first is the simplest, but it is far from the cheapest. An upgrade will cost you either 50,000 coins or 1,000 FC Points. The second option is to do it manually, but it’s a lot more challenging. You can select a player and complete tasks with the card in the lineup. Here are all the possible evolutions and what you can do for them.

Upgrade your player in player career

Upgrading your own player in EA Sports FC 24 is very simple. There is a section for doing so, though you won’t be able to do anything in that section at first. You have to earn XP to do so. This is achieved by playing matches and completing training. We can’t stress enough how valuable the XP earned from even simulating training sessions can be.

As you earn XP, you will level up. Every time you level up, you will be granted three skill points. Leveling up is easier at first, but subsequent levels are harder to reach. Every single time, though, you get three points.

Those points are used to purchase upgrades. In your Player Career file, head one section to the left and find the “Player Growth” tab. This is where you will use the skill points in EA FC, formerly known as FIFA. There are several sections you can spend them in:

• Pace
• Shooting
• Passing
• Dribbling
• Defending
• Physical
• Goalkeeper

All of these matter for your player, with the exception of goalkeeper if you play any other position. In these sections, you can spend the points you’ve earned to increase your attributes, thus boosting your OVR rating.

If you are unsatisfied with your finishing, find places on the skill tree that you can afford and buy the upgrades. Slowly but surely, your player will get better. Every upgrade helps, but they’re not all vital. For example, if you are a relentless winger, your defending ability isn’t as important. The opposite is true for a center back, for example.

However, with the exception of goalkeeper, they will all be useful in some form or fashion. Once you’ve given your striker top-notch finishing, passing, pace, physicality, and dribbling, you can freely spend any new points on defending and become a well-rounded player.
