Forza Horizon 5 is finally here and is impressing reviewers thanks to new game features, polished graphics, and excellent gameplay. However, for every good feature Forza has to offer, there seems to be an annoying bug that just makes the whole experience insufferable. Well, maybe it’s not that bad, but there are some glitches that are causing problems. The latest bug in a line of bugs is server connection issues.
Luckily, this bug might not actually be Forza’s fault. More likely is your internet (or software on your computer) blocking the game from launching its online mode. In this guide, we’ll be looking at the Forza Horizon 5 server connection issues, showing you exactly how to resolve the problem.
Forza Horizon 5 server connection issues: Quick fix
So, you’re probably asking at this stage, how do I fix these annoying server connection issues? Luckily, there are a number of different ways you can resolve this problem, many linking to your internet connection and the PC’s settings.
Below we will list all the possible reasons why you’re experiencing server issues and how to resolve them. Let’s get into it.
Check your internet connection:
That’s right people, it might sound basic but, 9 times out of 10, the main reason you’re receiving server connection issues is because you have problems with your internet.
First thing you need to do is ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Run a quick internet test and see whether you’re getting a strong connection – making sure at no point does it time out. If not, you know your internet is the reason for your game crashing – or certainly contributing to it.
Restart your PC:
Yep, everyone’s favorite, the old restart PC trick. While many think this is a mundane task, you’d be surprised with the number of times this actually works – and not just for fixing server connection issues. Give your PC a quick restart and try to relaunch the game in online mode – it might just work.
Swap your connection to wired:
Personally, I’ve never been a massive fan of wireless internet connections – especially when it comes to gaming. The first thing i’d do if you are getting a strong internet connection and you’ve restarted your PC is to hardwire it to your router. Try this and reconnect to a server, a more stable connection might be all you require.
Reset your internet connection:
If all of the above doesn’t help, try resetting your internet connection. While this may sound a little radical, it can have positive results for many individuals.
From the start menu, type ‘CMD’ in the search box. Once opened, follow these simple steps:
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter
- Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter
- Type ipconfig /release and press Enter
- Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter
- Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter
- Restart your computer
Run a quick test to make sure everything up and running, then reconnect to a server. Remember, before doing this particular step, check with the bill payer of the internet first!
Close background applications:
Finally, make sure some of your background applications aren’t interfering with your internet connection. The Playground developers support page recommends that you close the following applications before trying to launch the game in online mode:
- Trend Micro Maximum Security
- Comodo Antivirus
- Sophos
- Emisoft Anti-Malware
- Avira
- Avast
- Bitdefender Firewall
Disable Windows Defender Firewall:
Last but not least, try disabling your Windows Defender and firewall. This could be the main cause of all your problems. If the firewall thinks the game is risky or unsafe, it’ll block your internet access to it. In reality, the game is perfectly safe, so try launching it without the firewall to see if that’s blocking out.
