There’s a lot of buzz about the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, despite no signs of it appearing.

Part of the reason for the hype is that Rockstar has pretty much said they’re done with GTA 5.

Despite this, it seems like GTA 6 is still a few years away.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer – When Will it Arrive?

While we have no official statements from Rockstar regarding a trailer for the new GTA game, we can make some educated guesses. Firstly, we know that GTA 6 is relatively early in development, as the company only confirmed its existence in early 2022.

We also know that Rockstar typically has high ambitions for each game in the series. GTA 6 is likely to be bigger than GTA 5 in every way possible. With that in mind, chances are that we won’t be seeing a trailer until at least 2023.

If we get a trailer next year, it’s likely to be closer to a teaser than a full-blown reveal trailer. Either way, we can be pretty sure that the next game in the franchise will be a big deal when it comes out.

Why Has GTA 6 Taken So Long?

It’s been a fair few years since we last had a GTA game. Rockstar released GTA 5 in 2013, nearly an entire decade ago, and we’ve had almost no hints of a new game since then.

Part of the reason that GTA 5 lasted for so long is thanks to GTA Online. The online portion of GTA 5 has proved immensely popular, even winning the title ‘most profitable entertainment product ever’ in 2018. With such success, there’s not much shock that Rockstar was unwilling to start work on a new game instead.

Even Rockstar can’t keep a game going forever. If Rockstar wants to update GTA Online for the modern day, then a new base game is necessary. This is likely the primary reason we’re being told about GTA 6 now, so Rockstar can keep GTA O as a good money spinner.

GTA 6 Game Details

There’s not a lot of factual information about GTA 6 out there right now. Luckily, there have been a few leaks and rumors that give us some insight into the game.

We know there’s a solid chance the main character or characters will be women this time. This would make it the first time a woman has been playable in the series in a mainline game. The report comes via Bloomberg too, which makes it easy to believe.

In that same report, Bloomberg alleges that the new game will take place in a fictional Miami but will be bigger than any previous GTA map. Since GTA Vice City was set in fake Miami, there’s a solid chance we’ll get another opportunity to revisit the original city of video game debauchery and sin.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Leaks

There have been several leaks about GTA 6 over the years. Most recently, some Twitter users have begun posting images they claim are of the unreleased game. You can check out these leaks in the image above or by going to the Tweet directly.

The images show a male character flying in the face of other reports on the game. That said, previous titles have featured multiple protagonists, so there’s a solid chance that there’s a female main character that we’ve not gotten any images of yet.

Most of the leaks we do have seem to come from relatively untrustworthy sources. Youtube is filled with GTA 6 Fan Trailers, usually uploaded in a way that makes them seem like official trailers that have been leaked.

When Will the GTA 6 Trailer Come Out?

While we don’t have any concrete information, it’s unlikely that we’ll see any kind of trailer for GTA 6 for a couple of years.

We might be lucky to get a teaser trailer as early as 2023, but for a full reveal trailer we may be waiting till 2024 or beyond.

Why did GTA 6 Take So Long?

With GTA 5, and specifically GTA online, being so successful, Rockstar was unwilling to stop supporting it. With a lot of development staff tied up with GTA O, it would have been hard to start work properly on GTA 6.

Now we’re at the point where GTA Online itself is starting to look outdated vs other games, so the company is finally biting the bullet on GTA 6.
