Half-Life 2 was a groundbreaking experience when it came out. Despite being almost entirely unconnected to the last game, and then only half-finishing the storyline they had set up, people still go mad with praise for this one. It’s not hard to see why. Valve broke the mold with this in terms of gameplay, physics, atmosphere, and narrative all at the same time. With the cumulative man hours people have put into this game, it’s not a shock that many feel like they’ve already experienced it in every way possible. That’s where console commands come in.
Half-Life 2 console commands can do anything from giving you unlimited weapons and ammo to making you invincible. You can even break your way into game areas that you’ve never seen before. Check out our list of the best console commands for the game below.
How to Enable the Console
By default, the console won’t open for you. You’ll need to make some minor changes to the settings menu if you want to be able to cheat your heart away. Once you’ve opened the game, head to the settings menu, and check out the keyboard tab. Click Advanced and check the box next to Enable developer console, and the console will be accessible in the game. Just tap the key underneath Escape to bring it up at the top of your screen.
Half-Life 2 Useful Console Commands
Since there are so many console commands in Half-Life 2, we’ve split them up into a couple of different categories to make things easier. This first list is for useful command that don’t stray into the realms of cheating, not entirely. Still, you should be careful with these commands just the same as they could potentially corrupt your save files.

Just be careful. Since these are more powerful, there’s a big chance that you can corrupt save files or potentially even the game files themselves.
