There are various amounts of characters in Genshin Impact, with several equipping different weapons like claymores and swords and casting different spells. Over time, more and more characters launch, with several new characters even launching in the recent 2.1 update. One of the new characters includes the crossover with the Horizon series, Aloy, the character you play in the Horizon series. If you want to unlock and play Aloy, we will teach you how to get Aloy in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Aloy Release Date

The Genshin Impact Aloy release date is September 1, 2021. Aloy launched at the same time as 2.1 and is currently free as part of a promotion with Sony. She is completely free as long as you are over level 20. However, the deal is only on PlayStation. You will have to wait for 2.2 to get Aloy on PC or Mobile. There is currently no Genshin Impact Aloy Release Date set for 2.2, as we don’t even know when 2.2 is. It is more than likely she will launch with the 2.2 patch day, as that is what happened with 2.1.

How to get Aloy Genshin Impact

Aloy is a five-star character that launched in Genshin Impact 2.1. However, Aloy is only free for players who play Genshin Impact on PlayStation. Yup, if you are on mobile or PC, you will not be able to get Aloy until 2.2. If you really want to get Aloy in Genshin Impact right now, I guess you’ve somehow got to conjure up a PlayStation 4 or 5. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If you are fortunate enough to play Genshin Impact on a PlayStation, you will know how to get Aloy in Genshin Impact momentarily:

  • Download Genshin Impact on your PlayStation 4 or 5. If it is already installed, update your game to the 2.1 version.
  • Log into your Genshin Impact account on your PS4 or PS5. If you have family or a friend with a PS4 or PS5 you can try to log onto their console with your Genshin account (if they are covidless, of course).
  • Genshin Impact should automatically see that you’ve logged into your account from a PlayStation, so check your email address.
  • You should then find an Aloy a Predator Bow code that you can redeem.

It is worth mentioning that Aloy is a five-star character, meaning she is somewhat good for a free character, along with her four-star Predator Bow that she uses in the game franchise. But she does not content with premium 5-star characters already in the game.

Genshin Impact Predator Bow

Aloy has brought her Predator Bow to Genshin Impact.

You can not redeem Genshin Impact Aloy on PC or mobile because miHoYo and Sony have a deal together. Horizon is notoriously one of the PlayStations’ most popular exclusive IPs (intellectual property), so it is up to Sony to collaborate with other companies.

One thing that is worth mentioning is that her bow says something rather weird. The weapon description details: “Effective only on the following platform: PlayStation Network”. It would certainly imply that you can only use the bow if you actively logged into a PSN account. Let’s say you redeemed the Aloy and Predator Bow from logging into a friend or families PlayStation. It appears that it’s only worthwhile if you plan to get something a PS5 at a future date. Unfortunately, there is no way for you to unlock Aloy in Genshin Impact other than non-Sony consoles.

Genshin Impact Gameplay Trailer

MiHoYu has teamed up with select channels to demo an Aloy Genshin Impact Gameplay Trailer. The Aloy gameplay trailers show off both the Aloy Genshin Impact herself and the Genshin Impact Predator Bow together. You can do long-range snipes, as you can in Horizon Zero Dawn, along with using skills that inflict Cryo elemental damage upon her foes. You can see for yourself how Aloy works in the five-minute feature trailer above.

Genshin Impact Aloy build

Since Aloy is a free 5-star character, it does mean she isn’t that great, but she is strong enough for you to play the game with, especially for newer players. It does seem to be that her Predator Bow makes her entire identity, but that is locked into her into a PlayStation only promotion. You’ll find she only has a base attack damage of 18 but compensates it for decent defence metrics. You should consider her more of a sub DPS rather than a main DPS, but her bow does allow her to go crazy.

Before we go further, it is worth mentioning her skills:

Elemental Skill – Frozen Wilds: Throws a Freeze Bomb in the targeted direction. Freeze Bombs detonate and deal Cryo Damage to those caught in the blast. Furthermore, the Freeze Bomb creates multiple tiny Chillwater Bomblets that explode on contact with opponents or after a short delay dealing further Cryo Damage. Moreso, opponents hit by either Freee Bombs or Chillwater Droplets attack power is decreased. Enemies hit grant Aloy a stack of Coil, increasing Aloy’s damage. Upon reaching 4 Coil stacks, Aloy will gain the Rushing Ice effect, causing her attack damage to convert into Cryo Damage.

Elemental Burst – Prophecies of Dawn: Aloy throws a Cryo damage-dealing power cell in the targeted direction. She will then shoot the cell causing AOE Cryo damage in its area.

Predator Bow: Dealing Cryo DMG to opponents increases this character’s Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 10 for 6s, stacking twice. Lastly, when Aloy equips Predator, her ATK is increased by 66.

As you can see, she loves Cryo themed weaponry. We strongly advise any weapons that enhance her elemental effects, especially Cryo themed weapons. Again, it seems like the Predator Bow only works on PlayStation. So, if you have gamed Sony or are picking up Aloy in 2.2, then consider taking another bow like Elegy to enhance that elemental gameplay.
