With the highly anticipated sequel, Darkest Dungeon 2, coming out on 8th May, many players are hoping that the game has multiplayer so that they can dive into this heart-pounding adventure with their friends and tackle the roguelike’s challenges together. However, the question bugging most fans at the moment is whether the game will be multiplayer or not. So, let’s delve into the darkness and find out!
Darkest Dungeon 2 – Is it multiplayer?
Red Hook Studios has not confirmed whether Darkest Dungeon 2 will be multiplayer. The original game, Darkest Dungeon, officially did not have a multiplayer mode either originally. The multiplayer mode was later released through a DLC, ‘The Butcher’s Circus,’ where players could create their own teams of heroes and battle against other players online.
Moreover, since the early release of the game doesn’t host a multiplayer mode either, it’s quite unlikely that the 1.0 release of Darkest Dungeon 2 will feature the mode, at least not at the time of release.
Is Darkest Dungeon 2 co-op?
At the time of writing, it is still unconfirmed whether Darkest Dungeon 2 has the co-op feature as there is no confirmation from Red Hook Studios. Unlike the multiplayer mode, which was later incorporated through a DLC in Darkest Dungeon 1, there wasn’t a co-op mode available for the original game as well.
Making it likely that we won’t see co-op in Darkest Dungeon 2 either. Nothing can, however, be said for sure, as there is no official word from the developers.
Will There Be Multiplayer Or Co-Op Mode In Darkest Dungeon 2 In The Future?
Although nothing can be said for certain, fans have been speculating that there will be multiplayer for Darkest Dungeon 2, if not in the original release, then through a DLC. However, players aren’t that optimistic about a co-op mode, citing that there seems to be little hope for any co-op gameplay for Darkest Dungeon 2, as it wasn’t incorporated in the original either.
It may be co-op through Epic Games or Steam, but there is no confirmation.
