While we’re still waiting for a full list of weapons for Modern Warfare 2, we must rely primarily on data miners for our information. A data miner called ‘Reality’ managed to get their hands on a list of weapons, making a comeback for Modern Warfare 2.

Obviously, this isn’t an official list, so take it with a pinch of salt. With that said, here are all the weapons that are apparently coming to Modern Warfare 2. Anything with a star has been confirmed by official media such as Intel Drops:

  • LM-S
  • M4*
  • Bryson 800
  • AUG
  • Lockwood 725
  • X12*
  • Revive Pistol
  • Lachmann Sub
  • AX-50
  • RAAL MG
  • .50 GS
  • PSDW 50
  • Sakin 9
  • RPG-7
  • PILA
  • JOKR
  • Strela-P
  • LMP
  • Bruen MK9

This isn’t the final list of weapons coming to Modern Warfare 2, but it gives us a good idea of what we can and can’t expect to see in the game.

Weapons we Want to See in Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2 was one of the most ground-breaking and successful FPS games of the late 2000s. It defined online combat for years and is still seen as a yardstick to measure other games against.

We would love to see several key weapons not on the list above come back for MW2. We’ve compiled that list below for your reading enjoyment.

FAMAS

Modern Warfare 2 Guns FAMAS

During the heyday of the original MW2, the FAMAS was one of the best assault rifles in the game. It has an incredibly high rate of fire, a unique silhouette, and, with clip extensions, could be used to take out an entire squad in one magazine if they’re grouped together enough.

While IRL, this rifle is being swapped out for the HK416F in most French army units, that doesn’t mean we have to see the last of it in MW2. It would be great to relive memories of mowing down enemies online with this high-rate-of-fire/low-damage rifle.

SPAS-12

Modern Warfare 2 Guns SPAS 12

This one feels like another no-brainer. Not only is the design of this shotgun completely iconic, but it’s also a weapon that made its debut in the COD series with the first Modern Warfare title. It packs a decent punch but also comes with plenty of extra attachments that would make it perfect for Gunsmith mode.

Now, once again, this is a weapon that a newer model has superseded. However, that happened back in 2000, and the SPAS-15 just doesn’t have the same distinct ‘shotgun-y’ quality that the 12 does. With any luck, we’ll be using one of these to escape the Gulag again soon.

ACR

Modern Warfare 2 Guns ACR

If there is one weapon that defines Modern Warfare 2, it’s the ACR. Otherwise known as the Adaptive Combat Rifle, this beast has so much stopping power behind it, that you can literally apply a silencer to it and still take people out with ease.

Part of the reason it would be great to see this puppy come back is that it never featured in another mainline COD game. It was in the original MW2, and COD: Online, but that’s it. If Activision really wants this new game to feel like the original, we need to see this weapon come back.

Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith 2.0

Gunsmith 2.0, the latest version of COD’s gun customization engine, is a feature many gamers have been waiting for. In a recent Intel Drop, Raven Software revealed a lot of details on how the new mode is set up to function.

Gunsmith looks much more aimed towards realism this time around. That’s clear from the moment you get into as well since now it’s not just a bit of fancy UI, it’s actually designed to look like you’re in a firing range, tinkering with your weapons.

These realism changes expand into the mechanics as well. Not only can you make minor changes like your attachment, optics, etc., but you can also now radically change your gun from the ground-up by using different receivers. Just like in real-life guns, the receiver is the fundamental component that can dramatically change how the weapons function.

You can check out Gunsmith 2.0 in the video above. It’s clear that a lot of time and attention has been devoted to making this feature as close to life as possible. It looks like you’ll have plenty of rewards to dress up your guns in once the game actually launches.
