Can I make my own character in Mortal Kombat 1?
No, sadly there is no way to make your own character in Mortal Kombat. Character creation is not a feature of the game, and is not planned on being added in at any time.
Creating an entirely new character has never been a feature in the series, and the new reboot is no different. You are not able to make your own character to fight with in-game, and be able to edit their appearance and outfit. Character creators are incredibly popular with many games, but Mortal Kombat focuses instead on new storylines for existing characters and gruesome fatalities.
Unlike the latest Street Fighter, you’ll have to use the characters already available to fight with, similar to Tekken. You can choose from the expansive roster of fighters and new Kameo fighters, including:

And more. However, you are not able to add to the roster with your own custom character. As seen in the many trailers, there are plenty of fighters to choose from, each with their own fatalities and looks.
What character customization is in Mortal Kombat 1?
Even though you can’t make your own fighter, you can still customize the existing ones. Each combatant with have their own unique skins to use, like the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage. The main roster all have unique skins to enjoy, even if you can’t fully delve deep and make them your own like you would with a character creator.
You can also customize move sets for characters, to tailor your own unique gameplay experience. Fans can look forward to making their own move sets at launch to have variations all their own, and using them online or in solo mode.
