Fancy having a go at wooing chef extraordinaire and down-to-earth proprietor of the Blue Moon Saloon, Owen? Here’s everything you need to know about befriending and, with some luck, romancing Owen in My Time at Sandrock.
Owen Perks
Beyond the sheer joy of growing close to one of My Time at Sandrock’s most endearing characters, deepening your relationship with Owen also comes with tangible in-game perks.
- Hit Buddy status and Owen slashes 10% off all food and items bought at Blue Moon Saloon and Blue Moon To-Go shop.
- Move up to Friend and the discount swells to 20% off.
- Benefit from 25% off when Owen becomes a Good Friend.
Given the high cost of food in the game, the perks are useful, especially to keep your builder’s health and stamina meters topped up when diving into My Time at Sandrock’s various stamina-sapping ruins and farming for materials in the Eufaula Desert.
Owen Friendship Points
There are four main ways to gather friendship points to increase your friendship level with Owen:
Daily Chats – Talk to Owen every day to gain one friendship point. Doing so gives you a small but steady flow of friendship points. He’s often found mooching around Blue Moon Saloon.
Commissions – Owen occasionally posts requests on the commissions board inside the Commerce Guild. Depending on the requested items, fulfilling a commission can net you up to 30 friendship points.
Quests – Quests involving Owen, such as Over the Moon and Take a Hint!, grant anywhere from 10 to 20 points.
Gifts – My Time at Sandrock allows you to give one gift per day to NPCs, including Owen. For the most friendship points, concentrate on Owen’s Love items (you’ll find a list of Owen’s likes/dislikes below), which grant anywhere from 11 to 20 points.
Be careful not to give Owen the same item on successive days, as this incurs a point penalty. You can also triple the friendship points for gifts by giving Owen one of his favorite items on his birthday – Spring, Day 2.
