MyNBA is one of the staple game modes on the NBA 2K series. We’ve got you covered on everything you need to know about ‘MyNBA’ in this years game.
What is ‘MyNBA’?
From 2K themselves, they’ve described MyNBA as a mode where it’s more than just the court.
You need to train personnel to scout, look to build out your NBA roster and also deal with off-field scenarios around your players too.
A great mode for the offline community who just enjoy simulation basketball but also want the whole experience including the daily operations of running a championship winning basketball team.
MyNBA Recent Additions
The latest 2K game, NBA 2K22 saw an addition that allowed players to have even more in-depth control of their team: MySTAFF.
In 2K22, you were able to:
- Revamp the staff carousel with even more additions (CFOs, Shot Doctor, Guard Guru etc) with up to four departments in EACH position to fill.
- Attributes and badges – Similar to players, staff can now receive attributes and badges to improve aspects such as Charisma to improve Trade IQ.
- Updated Staff Cards – Quality of life improvements to make things look appropriate.
New MyNBA Mode: MyNBA Eras
So the leak was true! As of August 18, 2022, NBA 2K have released a press release outlining the ‘MyNBA Eras’.
Serving the purpose to that of a time machine, gamers will be able to go back to a different era to change the history of certain NBA dynasties.
The eras included in NBA 2K23 are as follows:
- The Magic Vs Bird Era: Starting in 1983, players will find themselves in the heat of the Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird rivalry that took over the league. Fans can rewrite 1980’s NBA history while they compete to draft the likes of Michael Jordan, Akeem Olajuwon, or any of the other NBA legends who were drafted in that legendary decade.
- The Jordan Era: Beginning in 1991, The Jordan Era puts players right at the beginning of Jordan’s dominant run with the Chicago Bulls. They will battle with Isiah Thomas’ “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons, John Stockton and Karl Malone, Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets, and Patrick Ewing’s New York Knicks for a chance to claim 1990’s basketball supremacy.
- The Kobe Era: The Kobe Bryant era takes fans back to 2002, where a new generation of talent had emerged in the West, including Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs, Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, and of course, the Black Mamba himself, Kobe Bryant. In addition to competing against the legends of this era, players will also be fighting for draft position in anticipation of the legendary 2003 draft class.
- The Modern Era: The previous MyNBA experience is now dubbed the Modern Era. Longtime fans of the mode can continue to start with the most up-to-date rosters available and enjoy the traditional MyNBA experience.
Upon selecting the period you want to play in, deciding how history unfolds is entirely in your hands.
In addition, this new NBA 2K mode was designed to be as accurate and realistic as possible to grant gamers a truly immersive experience. In other words, the uniforms, arenas, coaches, sponsors, and teams of that time will be in effect, allowing users to experience that time period for exactly how it was.
