Need for Speed is one of the longest-running driving game franchises of all time, and the latest entry, Need for Speed: Heat has been just as popular as ever. With versions available across multiple different platforms, many are probably wondering if the title is cross platform. The answer is yes, and no. While the game is playable cross-platform, it’s a bit of a different story depending on whether you’re playing on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC.

So yes, this title does indeed support cross platform play, but it’s not quite as simple as just picking up and playing the game. There are some caveats to how it works across the various platforms, so you’re going to have a very different experience based on which platform you or your friends have chosen to play the game on.

How to Play Need for Speed: Heat Cross Platform

The first time you boot the game on Xbox or PC, you should be presented with a splash screen that asks you whether you want to participate in crossplay or not. If you select Enables, crossplay should work straight away. If you miss this splash screen or have selected the wrong option, you can find the cross platform settings in the lobby under the privacy tab. The big caveat to this is that PlayStation owners will not find any such options, as crossplay on this version of the game isn’t available.

Does Need for Speed: Heat have Cross Save/ Cross Progression?

Unfortunately, as well as limiting the feature for PlayStation players, the same doesn’t support any form of cross progression. If you switch platforms between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, you’ll have to start again from the ground up rather than relying on your pre-existing save file.
