Ubisoft has announced a new entry in the popular Prince of Persia titled Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, while we wait for the Sands of Time remake. The game will be coming to all major platforms including Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game even has an official release date, January 18, 2024.
New sidescrolling Prince of Persia announced at Sumer Game Fest
The first trailer shown at the Summer Game Fest, it showed off a multitude of levels, combat and even a boss fight to look forward to. The game returns to the roots of the original Prince of Persia release, which brings back the original game’s perspective. The Metroidvania 2D game will feature a soundtrack that features compositions by Mentrix, also known for his work on Ori and the Blind Forest.
The game appears to have a much broader storyline and many more enemies for players to face. The sidescrolling aspect is built into the combat, and we have seen exploration blend seamlessly into this. The Prince of Persia fanbase has been waiting for new games and remasters for a while, so this will be something they’ll love.
The Prince of Persia series has been around since 1989, following the titular prince set in a medieval Persia. The franchise hasn’t seen a new title since 2010 with Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, so the fans are eager for a new title to get their hands on. This title has a new graphics style as well, that brings Prince of Persia into the modern gaming sphere while returning to the series roots with its 2D style.
Not much information is known about the newest entry, but more information is expected to be released as the game nears its release date.
