How to complete Marauder Advancement, from Initiation to the four trials: Gladiator, Ravager, Destroyer, and Commander

The Marauders are one of three New World factions you can join early in the game (the others being the Covenant and the Syndicate). Each has its own lore, outlook, and style (in the form of exclusive armor sets), as well as a number of other benefits depending on how successful the faction is in relation to the others. The more control the Marauders has over capturable territory, the more members can enjoy bonuses to resource collection, combat effectiveness and the like. To enjoy these benefits, however, you need to ingratiate yourself with the faction – which is where our Marauder Advancement guide comes in handy.

Choose Your Allegiance and Marauder Initiation

First, to be able to join a faction, you need to complete the Main Story quest Choose Your Allegiance. After choosing to join the Marauders, you will be issued the Marauder Initiation story quest. Depending on where you are located, you will assigned one of four stories to complete:

• Cooper’s Ranch (Windsward)
• Fallowhill Farms (Everfall)
• Hatchburg Fishery (First Light)
• Reedgill Fishery (Monarch’s Bluffs)

Once you have completed Marauder Initiation, you will assigned the rank of Soldier (Tier 1) and will be able to start amassing faction reputation (rep).

How to gain faction rep

Simply visit a nearby Marauder leader, which are in all the main settlements, and can be found on the map thanks to their blue icons. Accept and complete quests to receive faction reputation and enjoy other benefits.

Trial of the Gladiator (Cutlass Keys)

The Trial of the Gladiator Marauder Advancement story is how you need to progress from the rank of Soldier to that of Gladiator (Tier 2). You need a faction reputation of 3,000 and be a minimum of level 25 to be able to attempt the Gladiator trial.

You need to travel to Cutlass Keys, where you must defeat the Lost Pirate Hamidou. Once done, talk to Ravager Silas, who can be found in Cutlass Keys settlement in the north of the region.

• 1,500 Marauder Tokens
• 20 Azoth
• 96.25 Coins

Trial of the Ravager (Weaver’s Fen)

The Trial of the Ravager Marauder Advancement story is how you progress from the rank of Gladiator to that of Ravager (Tier 3). You need a faction reputation of 11,000 and should be a minimum of level 40 to be able to attempt the Ravager trial.

You need to travel to Weaver’s Fen, where you must defeat a number of enemies across the region. Once done, talk to Commander Bergeron, who can be found in Weaver’s Fen settlement in the center of the region.

• 20 Azoth
• 122.5 Coins

Trial of the Destroyer (Mourningdale)

The Trial of the Destroyer Advancement story is how you progress from the rank of Ravager to that of Destroyer (Tier 4). You need a faction reputation of 26,000 and a minimum level of around 50 to be able to attempt the Destroyer trial.

You need to travel to Mourningdale, where you must defeat the enemies from across the region. Once done, talk to Destroyer Garcia, who can be found in Restless Shore and will issue your rewards.

• 2,890 XP
• 6,000 Marauder Tokens
• 20 Azoth
• 140 Coins

Trial of the Commander (Ebonscale Reach)

The Trial of the Commander Advancement story is how you progress from the rank of Destroyer to that of Commander (Tier 5). You need a faction reputation of 49,000 and a minimum level of around 60 to be able to attempt the Commander trial.

You need to travel to Ebonscale, where you must defeat Corrupted Ravager Silas. Once done, talk to Commander Hartford, who can be found in Ebonscale Reach and will issue your hard won rewards.
