Apex Legends has its iconic competitive mode known as the Apex Legends Ranked Battle Leagues, which allow you to test your skills against similarly ranked players in hopes of rising amongst the ranks.

You can usually rank up by gaining RP through killing different players or getting a specific position in the Battle Royale.

However, there is a limit on how high of a ranking you can get, with Master and Predator being the highest ranks. Therefore, to keep things interesting, there’s usually a Ranked Split to knock down players’ rankings to keep them working for their rightful positions.

This is why we’ll discuss when the next Ranked Split will take place and even explore the different changes and details.

When is the Next Apex Legends Ranked Split?

Ranked splits usually happen twice per Season, once at the start and another near the halfway point. We’re currently in Season 16 of Apex Legends.

Season 16 started on February 14th, 2023. The current Split, Split 2, started on April 4th at 10 am PT/6 pm GMT/1 pm ET

The next Apex Legends Ranked Split after this will most likely happen at the start of Season 17 which is due for some time in mid-May according to predictions.

Therefore, you only have a few weeks to get as high of a rank as you can to reap all of the rewards!

Ranked Split Maps

The maps also occasionally get changed each time there is a Split. At the start of Season 14, players got to battle out in Kings Canyon as the first map.

At the start of the Season, there were many changes added to the map to make it more modern and bigger. Many areas were redesigned, making them wide enough for multiple teams to have firefights concurrently.

The second map that will be used for Split 2 is going to be Storm Point. It is considered one of the biggest and most popular maps. Storm Point is not only 15% bigger than World’s Edge but also has 17 different points of interest.

Changes in Split

A few changes were added with the recent Ranked Mode after the splits. Moving from Season 13 to Season 14, these were the changes that were added in Split 1 of Season 14:

  • Entry cost into Ranked Matches got +5 for all ranks
  • Diminishing returns on eliminations that led to lower kill RP got removed.
  • No changes to rank reset. Players would still get knocked down six divisions.

But there are certain changes in Split 2 as well that are worth considering and might be good news for you if you didn’t like how many ranks you’d lose during the split.

In Split 2, instead of being knocked down 1.5 ranks, your rank will only reset by one rank. That means, instead of 6 divisions, you’ll only go down 4 in Split 2, giving you a better chance of reaching a higher rank before the end of the Season!

With that, you know everything there is to know about Apex Legends Ranked Split in Season 14 and the upcoming Split at the start of Season 15! There’s still some time before the current split ends, and with only a one-rank reset, there’s a lot of potential to reach a high rank!
