Yungoos is a Gen 7 Pokémon which has the appearance of a mongoose – hence the name. The Normal-type Pokémon evolves into Gumshoos in the daytime, a trait which is carried from the Sun & Moon games into Pokémon GO.
Neither Yungoos nor Gumshoos are among the most powerful Pokémon to have in your party, but if you’re a completionist, you’ll still want to catch them to fill your Pokédex. Even more so if you’re looking to catch every shiny out there. So is it even possible to encounter a shiny Yungoos or Gumshoos?
Can Yungoos be shiny in Pokémon GO?
Actually, yes! Yungoos can be encountered in its shiny form in Pokémon GO. Shiny Yungoos was released to Pokémon GO at the same time as its non-shiny form, at the start of the Pokémon GO Season of Alola event on March 1, 2022. One of two Pokémon to be released in its shiny form alongside its debut, shiny Yungoos joined Pokémon GO alongside shiny Rockruff, which was released on the same day.
Can Gumshoos be shiny in Pokémon GO?
Since Yungoos can be found in its shiny form in Pokémon GO, it can be evolved into a shiny Gumshoos. Yungoos can be evolved into Gumshoos with 50 Candies, but can only be evolved during the in-game daytime.
Best Gumshoos moveset Pokémon GO
Gumshoos’ Attack stat outweighs its Defense with a base Atk of 194 and a base Def of 113. Gumshoos’ best moves for attacking are Bite and Hyper Fang, but it can also learn the fast move Take Down, and the charged moves Rock Tomb and Crunch*.
