Who’d have thought that combining cars and football into a single game would have been such a smash hit outside of that one time Top Gear did it. Well, Rocket League has definitively proven that the concept has legs or rather wheels, and these days it’s one of the most successful free-to-play games on the market. It’s also available on every platform that you can imagine, so does it feature crossplay? The short answer is yes, as long as you know what you’re doing, you can play with others no matter if they’re playing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, or PC.

Yes, Rocket League does indeed support cross platform gaming. While the game has been kicking around since 2015, it wasn’t until 2019 that the Friends update actually made it possible to play with people on other platforms. The update also added a friends list to the main menu that allowed you to see what all of your friends were up to, regardless of what platform they happened to be using. Still, you’ll have to actually enable the feature before you get to play with your friends.
How to Play Rocket League Cross Platform
While there is a step you have to take before you can enjoy Rocket League with your cross platform friends, it’s not exactly a big step. Once you’ve launched the game, open the options menu and head to the gameplay tab. Now all you need to do is make sure that the ‘cross-platform play’ box is checked and you’re ready to start playing with your friends.
Does Rocket League Have Cross Save/ Cross Progression?
If you enjoy playing the game on multiple different platforms, you’ll be pleased to hear that it does also support cross save. Your inventory, your rank, and your Rocket Pass progression can all be kept no matter what platform you happen to play on. To do this, you’ll need to sign in to your Epic Games account on all of the platforms you’re planning on playing the game on.
