Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is finally getting new packs, a new addition to the ban list, and a new structure deck!

We take a deeper dive into what all of this means for the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel meta game, what’s in each of the new packs and what the new solo mode is this time around.

What Is In The Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel New Packs?

As the above tweet states:

Try your hand at the ‘Floowandereeze’, an archetype that will lead you onto the path of victory with their tribute summoning mechanics which relies less on Special Summons! Open up a wide range of plays by bringing out ‘Adventurer Tokens’ with ‘Rite Of Aramesir’ and unleashing their potential with an exciting range of brand new cards! New cards for the ‘Magikey’, ‘Gunkan’, ‘Machina’ and ‘Evil Twin’ archetypes are also here!”

It’s worth noting that both Floowandereeze and the Adventure Engine have been threats in the competitive scene of Yu-Gi-Oh for quite a while now.

While Floowandereeze is less of a competitive threat than perhaps some players thought it would be, it still shows up in tournament brackets fairly often as a tribute deck that can put considerable strain on your opponent. The real kicker however is the Adventure Engine.

The Adventure Engine has been a staple in basically every single deck since it was released, hitting massive prices for the physical card itself and creating fear in the Yu-Gi-Oh world.

With the Adventure Engine in play you’re able to consistently and constantly put at least one disruption (negate) on the board to stop your opponent’s plays, and the equip spell for the archetype ‘Dracoback, The Rideable Dragon’, is a non-targeting removal spell that sends a card back to your opponent’s hands.

It’s likely that the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel meta will shift considerably when these cards release. But when exactly is that?

We have the cards from the new set!

When Do The New Master Duel Packs Release?

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Starting Deck
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Starting Deck

The new Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel packs are currently, according to the Google Play Events page, scheduled to drop on Monday 11th July.

This also tracks with another pack inside Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel itself that is listed as ending on Monday as well, so Konami will likely be looking to replace that hole in the market as soon as possible.

The packs will become available across every platform that the game is available on meaning they’ll be on PC, Mobile, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Any New Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Solo Gates?

Currently, it’s unclear as to whether Konami plans to add new Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel solo gates with the new pack.

Usually, when Konami add solo gates they announce them on Twitter though, so we’ll know prior to the actual launch of the solo gate what the gate is about, what archetype you can expect to play, and when they’ll be added.

Since its launch Konami has added solo gates for archetypes including but not limited to:

  • World Chalice
  • Danger!
  • Six Samurai
  • Mekk-Knights
  • Duel Challenges
  • SP Challenge 2

UPDATE: Multiple new Solo modes have been datamined for the archetypes:

  • Plunder Patroll
  • Bujin
  • Ally Of Justice
  • Mermail
  • Beetrooper
  • Vendread

UPDATE (9/8/2022): Beetrooper now has a solo mode in the game, thanks to the new update!

Additions To The Banlist

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel will also be adding two cards to the banlist, which might shock people since the cards it’s adding aren’t even in the game just yet.

That’s right, two cards from the brand-new packs have been pre-emptively nerfed, with ‘Water Enchantress Of The Temple’ & ‘Rite Of Aramesir’ both semi-limited to two copies per deck.

While to outsiders this may seem weird, it makes sense to people who have been playing the physical card game. The Adventure Engine has been a thorn in many duelists sides for a long time now, so nerfing it will hopefully make it easier to deal with.

With the additions, the banlist currently stands as follows:
