According to the Steam hardware & software survey in December 2022, Nvidia’s GTX 1650 GPU is still the top dog with 6.21%. This graphics card has been in steady decline but it just goes to show (with the GTX 1060 sitting 2nd) that budget is king.
This is obviously no surprise, the vast majority of PC gamers are on a tight budget and operate in that sweet spot of budget to mid-tier.

A close second as of December was the slightly more powerful RTX 3060 Ti at +0.31%, followed by the RTX 3070 at +0.28%.

Steam GPU stats
With the RTX 40 series launching at the backend of 2022, it is hardly surprising to see the 30-series pick up in popularity. These GPUs became very reasonable in price as we entered fall, which was mostly down to big events such as Black Friday and an abundance of stock.
At the strange end of the scale, there was a +0.36% uplift in percentage share for DirectX 8 GPUs and below.
For now, it looks highly plausible to see the RTX 3060 reign as the most popular GPU but that all depends on the number of units left.
