But what will this expansion entail? What has been reported?
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Expansion Discussed
Within an Activision financial press release, confirmation was given that something related to Call Of Duty would be released next year and be paid, with the release stating that:
“Activision is looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including the most robust Call Of Duty live operations to date, the next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series, and even more engaging free-to-play experiences across platforms”
What this would normally refer to is the next full game release in the series, but we already know that we’re not getting a new full Call Of Duty release until 2024 thanks to the new development model.
Jason Schreier Breaks It Down
Jason Schreier, a reporter at Bloomberg and New York Times Bestselling Author, broke down what this meant in a tweet, stating that the next game is still coming in 2024 and will be developed by Treyarch.
What this premium release is referring to is a paid expansion developed by Sledgehammer Games that will reportedly have a hefty dose of content, but will be more Modern Warfare II when you break it down to the fundamental levels. It’s unclear if this is going to be just more maps, or if we’re also looking at more single-player content though.
