Nvidia’s keynote was mostly Jensen talking about spending more money to save more money over and over again, however, it started boldly with the introduction of Nvidia ACE. Nvidia ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine) uses generative AI to allow for in-game characters to seamlessly interact with players without a pre written script. Game developers can give a character a back story and ACE can give NPCs the ability to repsond without any pre determined conversation. They will be able to generate human-like responses based on how the player interacts. This simplifies game design to some degree and could easily be the future of gaming but where is AMD in all of this?

We already went into detail as to why AMD never came to the Computex party but they often try and go toe to toe with Nvidia when it comes to all things gaming. Nvidia brought us G-SYNC, AMD, FreeSync. Nvidia brought us DLSS, AMD, FSR. Well, we already know both AMD and Nvidia (Intel too) have been using AI for quite some time but only over the last few years are we starting to see it in the gaming world.

AMD has Xilinx design tools that reduce development time, while allowing devs to create custom hardware accelerators on demand but we haven’t seen anything in the gaming space.

Does AMD need its own ACE? In Short – no

AMD may have lost the AI race but with how pivotal it looks to be, they will no doubt come back as hard as possible. Ryzen AI brought accelerated multitasking, increased productivity and efficiency, so it is plausible we are going to see something in the AI gaming space from AMD sometime this year.
