According to a fresh new report, EA is set to be purchased by Amazon.

Amazon To Buy EA?
FIFA-1-1200×675.jpg” alt=”FIFA 1″ class=”wp-image-767481″/>According to sources over at GLHF, Amazon is planning to announce today that they’ve put in an offer to acquire Electronic Arts. This would mean that Amazon owned the following titles:
- FIFA
- Madden
- Apex Legends
- Mass Effect
- Need For Speed
- Dead Space
- Command & Conquer
And a whole lot more. Obviously, as of right now it’s merely a rumor, but the sources at GLHF are usually pretty damn accurate, so keep an eye out for our news report later if the news is confirmed.
It’s a huge get for Amazon, an absolutely massive studio under their belt that would give some more games to their Amazon Prime Gaming section and allow them to show off their clout to the industry a bit more than just saying that they made New World.
UPDATE: According to Bloomberg Terminal, Amazon ISN’T making a bid for EA. This suggests that it there isn’t yet an acquisition in the works, but it doesn’t entirely rule out the possibility in the future.
Previous Rumors
There’s been talk across the industry since May of this year that EA was looking to sell, with Apple, Amazon, and Disney all touted as potential buyers for the company. It’s clear now that Amazon managed to win out in the bidding battle in the end, though.

It’s unclear as of right now if this acquisition will directly affect already-in-development games and how it will affect games that are currently being planned out. Games such as the next Need For Speed game, a game that is currently deep in development, likely won’t be affected by this, but it could change how the Star Wars licensing deal between EA and Disney works, especially if they suddenly become owned by a direct competitor.
