What change is Fortnite making to Creative Maps?
Fortnite and Epic Games released Unreal Editor (UEFN) earlier this year and has now updated some rules and clarified the new IARC (International Age Rating Coalition) ratings. This change for Creative Maps occurred on October 3, 2023; Fortnite and Epic Games announced they are working in partnership with the IARC and will feature internationally recognized age and content ratings.
This change gives parents and players access to trusted and familiar ratings, which will aid them in making informed decisions about what and how they play. Once players are ready to publish their Creative Maps on Fortnite, they must complete an IARC content rating questionnaire.
When you submit your creative map, it will be reviewed by an Epic moderator. Once your questionnaire is complete, you will receive an age-based IARC rating for your Creative Map. The IARC ratings will go live on November 14, 2023. However, the IARC questionnaire will be available on the Creator Portal on October 16, 2023.
As a result, you must complete this questionnaire and get an assigned rating for your Creative Map. All unrated maps will be delisted on November 14. This big change to Creative Maps could potentially affect your island’s monetization.
Additionally, there will be new options in Epic Games Parental Controls. This will allow parents and guardians to set the content age rating limits. With these new options, you can block islands above an age rating. In addition, parents will also be able to unlock specific islands with their Parental Controls PIN.
