An essential Genshin Impact OST staff member has recently departed from the company. Aside from enjoying the breathtaking storyline and visuals of the game, music is also an essential feature. When you navigate the five regions of Teyavt, you can enjoying various types of music curated for each region.

Unfortunately, the composer who created these tracks will no longer be a staff member making these beautiful tracks. Where will that leave the future of HOYO-MiX for Genshin Impact? Are players left in good hands?

HOYO-MiX just lost an essential staff member to Genshin Impacts OST

Genshin Impact is known for its amazing soundtracks by one of the lead composers, Yu-Peng Chen. Unfortunately, in a recent Weibo post, he announced his decision to leave Genshin Impact’s in-house music studio, HOYO-MiX. In a translated Reddit post, Yu-Peng Chen notes his reason for departing and plans for the future. You can also find the original post on Yu-Peng Chen’s BiliBili account.

Yu-Peng Chen notes that his reason for leaving HOYO-MiX is due to “personal creative endeavors.” He also states that this decision was not easy and “after careful consideration.. and several discussions with the company, I have chosen to leave miHoYo and the HOYO-MiX team to continue pursuing my music dreams!”

Yu-Peng Chen, also known as Chen Zhiyi, began his work for HOYO-MiX in 2019 and quickly created some of the most beautiful soundtracks within the game. The soundtrack is adored by plenty of players. As a result, many players are eager to attend any Genshin Impact concert to hear the symphonies of the game.

While many players are sad to see this essential staff member leave, as one Redditor says, “this news is too saddening to me.” One Redditor also mentioned, “I would be a lot worried if this news came out before Fontaine was released,” stating that if Yu-Peng Chen left before Version 4.0 was released, players would be unsure of the forthcoming OST.

However, Genshin Impacts OST will continue to grow as the remaining team created Fontaine’s music without much help from Yu-Peng Chen. So, while it is a sad day to see the lead composer leave HOYO-MiX, we’re grateful to know we are left in good hands, and can enjoy the OST without much worry!
