Emerald Rapids is the codename for Intel’s 5th gen Xeon. Intel Xeon processors are the workstation chips designed by Intel for use in servers and other data-oriented applications, these monsters possess incredibly high core counts compared to their desktop counterparts.
The 5th generation of Intel Xeon processors “Emerald Lake” is well on its way to release. All this came via an update to the Xeon roadmap from Intel itself, where they stated they plan to deliver Emerald Rapids in 2024. All of this comes just a few months after Intel releases sapphire rapids. Intel’s 4th generation of Xeon scalable processors. The Sapphire rapids-based processors were released at the start in 2024.

5th gen Intel Xeon Emerald Rapids release window prediction
Intel recently revealed that the 5th generation of Intel Xeon CPUs is well on its way to consumers, and is already being sent out to reviewers and samplers alike.
We predict that 5th gen Xeon processors will be available from Q4 2023, that’s anywhere from October – December. There is nothing specific regarding the exact date yet, however. Still, Q4 is not too far away, and with little going on in the way of desktop CPU releases, it’s nice to have something to look forward to.
Xeon processors are meant to be used in servers and workstation units, so they aren’t as applicable to gamers as say your standard desktop CPU, but for those of you that may have used these CPUs, watch this space for more up-to-date information.
Intel 5th gen Xeon specs rumors
According to TechPowerUp. The Emerald Rapids-based CPU could be constructed using the same LGA4677 package as the Sapphire Rapids CPU that came previously. It is equipped with up to 64 Raptor Cove CPU cores that enable higher clock speeds and memory speeds while introducing the latest Intel Trust Domain Extensions (TDX) instruction set.
The processor could feature an 8-channel DDR5 memory interface, which supports increased native memory speeds. Its primary serial interface is an 80-lane PCI-Express Gen 5 root complex. The chip will be manufactured using the most advanced refinement of the Intel 7 10nm node process.
The same refinements were implemented in the 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake” consumer desktop processors.
