Intel’s 14th Gen was released back in October 2024, but now it’s time for the flagship as the Intel Core i9-14900KS release date is rumored. Providing you with the full potential of the Raptor Lake refresh but likely coming at some rather high power costs, let’s see what it is expected to be.
Speculated 14900KS release date
Videocardz has reported that the 14900KS is expected to launch on 14th March 2024. This comes just 5 months after the initial launch of the 14th Gen processors. Although they weren’t straight contenders for the best CPU for gaming out there they still can pack quite a punch. It is also expected to be the final high-end LGA 1700 processor as the platform comes to its end and Intel moves to yet another socket in the LGA-1851.
Previous launches of the KS processors were at similar times towards the beginning of their years. As the 12th Gen came in April 2022, the 13th Gen in Jan 2023, and now the 14th Gen expected in March provides a good estimate for the launch.
14900KS price leak
Closer to the release day of the 14900KS, the price seems to have been spotted. As Videocardz reported, Micro Center seems to have an early look at the price of the new processor. There we see that the new CPU is coming in with a price of $749. That is a sky-high price, with a 44% higher MSRP than the 14900K of $520, but also increasing $50 over the last gen 13900KS price.
Intel Core i9-14900KS specs rumored
Videocardz also reported the many rumors and leaks on the processor. It is expected to provide a small boost in what the 14900K already has to offer as all the S SKUs do. But that does mean you get a bit more boost but coming with a power requirement. So far it is said to be:
- Config: 24 cores/32 threads (8 performance + 16 efficiency)
- Base clock P core: 3.2GHz
- Boost clock P core: 6.2GHz (0.2 more than K)
- PBP (TDP): 150W (25W more than K)
An overclocked CPU compared to the 14900K should provide a small boost in what the performance will be over the non-S version. It certainly could provide you with at least an upgrade patch in a few years time when the price gets a bit more reasonable.
