It’s getting closer to the rumored announcement date of Intel’s 14th generation, and it seems as though the 14th gen release date has all but been confirmed. Thanks to various leaks, we suspect the date the new generation drops will be the 17th of October. With that being said, many users seem disappointed with the leaked benchmarks of Intel’s 14th gen. Intel’s 14th gen isn’t out yet and already people seem disappointed by it.

The new Raptor Lake Refresh seems to be exactly what it says on the tin, just a refresh of the current CPU architecture. But, with the 14th gen not being able to be tested to a full extent by third parties, we’d hold off from making any rash judgments just yet.

People already seem disappointed by Intel’s 14th-generation CPUs

There’s always a select part of the community that’s disappointed by the launch of a CPU, however, it seems no matter where you look, someone is not too pleased with Intel’s upcoming CPUs. Many of the users on the r/Intel Subreddit seem to fall into the disappointed category. With a few of them even going as far as to say the new generation “isn’t worth it”. Let’s take a look.

One comment from a user named RockyXvII says:

Price drop on 13th gen is going to be best thing that comes from this

These prices are a disappointment considering what this “new gen” really is. Besides the i7, they’re basically just changing 13 to 14 in the name and shipping them for another year

This is a valid concern, especially when someone has looked at the cherry-picked benchmarks straight from Intel.

Another user by the name of FormerDonkey4886 said this in response to the above:

Ye, 14th seems to be 10% better at its best, 1% better at worst and 4-5% better generally. Not worth it compared to prices of the 13th gen that will drop. The 14700 is the only one standing out but even so, it’s meh.

The consensus on the Subreddit appears to be that Intel 14th gen won’t be worth the price once the price of the 13th generation drops. A standard occurrence after the launch of a newer generation.

Will the Intel 14th Gen be worth the price?

It is unclear whether the 14th-generation CPUs will be worth it until we get our hands on some third-party benchmarks, third parties are, most of the time, impartial and offer a more accurate bigger picture of the overall performance of the hardware.

But that’s something we’ll have to wait for and see. However, that doesn’t change the fact that Intel’s 14th gen isn’t out yet and already people seem disappointed by it. However, this could prove beneficial. For those who do upgrade, they will be dropping their 12, 13th, or 11th-gen CPUs in favor of a 14th-gen CPU. Leaving them at a much lower price for those of us who want an older CPU.

If you think about it, that wouldn’t have happened if Intel wasn’t about to launch a new CPU lineup.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, after all.
