UPDATE: OCTOBER 6th. It looks like Slack is down in the UK. We’re seeing a massive number of reports across Downdetector right now that Slack has been compromised. However the Slack System Status page currently suggests all is operating as intended.

Unfortunately Slack’s Twitter page hasn’t been updated since 2021, so we’re unlikely to see any major updates there. Your best bet is to check out the service status page on the website, or wait until we update the article here today.

Slack Status Page Suggests Everything Fine

Slack, the popular comms app for business is facing a serious outage across its services, as the product gets a hammering on down detector.

One of the best known communication and productivity tools in the business, this highly business critical program, often has the odd outage from time-to-time.

Slack Service Status Right Now – October 6th

Sadly the official Slack System Status page, suggests that everything’s operating as normal (with a minor incident occurring with no major errors across their systems. Downdetector tell however is showing a considerable spike in complaints and issues, entirely different story, with significant reports of outages now in the UK.

What Are the Problems?

Everything from messages not sending, to uploads not completing, to deletions not occurring, most communicative features with the program seem to be misfiring, or taking a considerable time to process or upload.

Multiple attempts at sending messages and uploading programs does seem to work eventually, however service is incredibly intermittent.

Has Slack Responded?

Although there’s not been an official comment just yet, we’re keeping an eagle eye on the company’s Twitter account for any major update, along with its Service Status Page.

These kinds of outages are usually resolved in less than 24 hours, and as the bulk of the US, is still currently in working hours, it’s likely this will be resolved much sooner rather than later.

Are There Any Alternatives?

A number of popular chat alternatives are available, dependent on your company’s corporate setup. Everything from Microsoft Teams to Google Chat (formerly Hangouts), dependent on which suite of productivity tools your business has decided to use.

Alternatively, for the more agile companies, Discord could provide an alternative solution, for those desperate in a pinch.
