MSI leaks Ryzen 7000 series installation video: AMD is almost set to release its AM5 motherboards and accompanying Zen 4 CPUs, whilst promising massive performance against AMD is doing pretty well at keeping AM5 details under wraps.
Now read: AM5 what we know
That is until MSI comes along. This isn’t the first time MSI has spilled the beans on AM5. In fact, it was MSI that leaked the dual-chipset configuration of X670E motherboards a few months ago.
MIS Leaks Ryzen 7000 series AM5 installation video
MSI recently leaked a video detailing the installation of a Zen 4 CPU into an AM5 socket motherboard.
You’ll notice that the above video is not on MSI’s YouTube channel, that is because the video has since been taken down for obvious reasons. Thankfully YouTube channel “Overclcoking_com” managed to download the video before the take-down happened, and re-hosted the video on their own channel.
The video depicts a Zen 4 CPU being installed into an AM5 socket motherboard, this is the first time we’ve seen a Zen 4 CPU installation. The video then goes on to show the process in reverse for the “uninstallation process”.
We don’t know exactly what Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 series CPU is being used for the video, as the CPU just states “AMD ENG SAMPLE” and we don’t get a proper look at the SKU.
We can however predict that it may be a 7700X or 7600X as we’re pretty sure the 7900X and 7950X do not come with included CPU coolers. It is, however, entirely possible that MSI just grabbed any old AM4 cooler for the video.
Additionally, we know that the RGB Wraith cooler is not capable of dealing with either the 7900X or 7950X’s thermal output.
AM5 release date
AMD is set to release its AM5 motherboards along with accompanying Zen 4 CPUs on September the 27th 2022. This is the same day that Intel plans to unveil its 13th gen “Raptor Lake” CPU.
Final word
We already know what AM5 motherboards and Zen 4 CPUs look like, but seeing them together brings much excitement. We’re expecting a lot from Zen 4 performance-wise, as AMD promised a performance increase of up to 30% during their keynote presentation at Computex 2022.
