How to Charge Samsung Galaxy S23
There are so many ways you can charge your phones nowadays and charging your Samsung S23 is no different, from fast charging to wireless charging, you get a good number of options. Let’s take a look at the different types of ways to charge your S23 through our guide.
Superfast Charging
Unfortunately, you don’t get an adapter when you buy phones now. You do however get a data cable with your phones. You can buy the adapter individually and the choice is yours. For Superfast charging you can get a 45W adapter and it will charge your phone in an hour.
Another option would be buying a basic 15-25W charger which is still a fast charger considering it will only take around 10mins longer to charge in comparison to the 45W adapter. The data cable that comes with the phone is a USB Type-C to USB Type-C which can be used in any Samsung-compatible adapter.
To enable Superfast charging once you have the necessary cable, follow the below steps:
Note that you cannot activate or deactivate this feature while your phone is charging, so do it beforehand.
Step
Settings
Go to the settings.
Step
Battery and device care
Select the Battery and Device Care option.
Step
Battery
Tap on the Battery option.
Step
More Battery Settings
Scroll down and tap ‘More Battery Settings’ at the bottom.
Step
Enable Superfast Charging
Toggle on the Superfast Charging option. On the S23, it’s actually listed as ‘Fast charging’, but you will be receiving super fast charging speeds if you have a super fast charger attached.
Wireless Charging
For Wireless charging you will find a charger that will support 15W of fast charging at maximum. There are many options in the market regarding wireless chargers that are compatible with Samsung products. Samsung’s own and Anker’s have pretty great wireless chargers.
Let’s take a look at our step-by-step guide on how to wireless charge your Samsung S23:
Step
Plug in the charging stand
Connect the charging stand’s cable to a wall outlet (socket).
Step
Connect the data cable
Connect the other end of the data cable to the charging stand.
Step
Place the phone on the stand
Place your Samsung S23 or any other Samsung device (that has wireless charging) on the charging stand with the screen facing up.
Step
A green light indicates the phone is charging
If the device is placed properly the light in the charging stand will illuminate green color, but if the device is not placed properly then it will emit red light signalling an error.
Reverse Charging
One of the most innovative ways to charge your phone for sure. Reverse charging may not be as fast or effective as fast charging or wireless charging but in urgent need of battery life, it can give you a few minutes of battery to complete a task. With reverse charging, you can charge your Samsung S23 with another phone (one that supports reverse charging too). You can also charge earbuds and smartwatches too off your S23.
Note that the device your want to charge with the wireless power charging should also have the wireless charging feature.
Let’s take a look through our step-by-step guide on how to enable and use reverse charging on your Samsung S23 to charge external devices. The same steps can in turn be used on a different phone to charge your S23.
Step
Quick Settings
Swipe down the screen for quick settings, then swipe down again for more quick settings options. Look for the plus sign to integrate power-sharing into your quick settings.
Step
Tap the plus sign
Tap on the plus sign.
Step
Find Power-Sharing in Quick Settings
From the list of additional quick settings search for the power-sharing option.
Step
Drag Power-Sharing into the Quick Settings Bar
Hold down the power-sharing icon and drag it to your quick settings bar.
Step
Wireless Power-Sharing
Turn on the wireless power-sharing option.
Step
Charge the device on the back of your phone
Your S23 will prompt you to turn it so it faces the backside up.
Now you can charge another S23 phone on it, or an S22, or compatible earbuds, smartwatches, or other wireless charging devices by placing them on the back of your S23.
You can also charge your Samsung S23 the same way too by placing your phone on another phone (both phones back facing each other). Simply follow the above steps but on sad device, then place the phones together.
Obviously do note that the device your want to charge with the wireless power charging should also have the wireless charging feature – older/cheaper phones might not.
How to Charge Samsung Galaxy S23 FAQs
Can I use my old charger to charge my Samsung S23?
Yes, you can most definitely use your old Samsung charger to charge your Samsung S23. As Samsung phones now don’t come with an adapter it would be wise to use your old charger instead of spending more money on a new one. The old chargers that we mean are the S22 or S21 chargers.
The S22 or S21 Samsung chargers come with either 25W or 45W chargers which are sufficient, but anything less than that would mean your phone will charge slower. So, if you are looking for fast charging then make sure the old charger you have is at least 25W or 45W. If that’s not the case then you might have to buy a new one with fast charging.
Why does the Samsung S23 not come with a charger?
Samsung say their decision to not include a charger is part of them taking steps to address e-waste problems. Samsung started to remove chargers and headphones from the Galaxy S21 series onwards. They want to avoid unnecessary duplication of such items, and assume many buyers of the new device will have a compatible charger already.
While the existing users can use their old chargers for new devices, the new user will have to buy a new charger separately.
Not including chargers also means Samsung can ship their phones in smaller cases hence using less cardboard and plastic.
