OpenAI has made the ChatGPT API available for developers. This API uses the powerful GPT-3.5 turbo model, which is the same model that is used for ChatGPT. Developers can access the API easily through a straightforward endpoint. OpenAI has said that the ChatGPT API will cost ten times less than all other GPT-3.5 models. This makes it a more affordable choice for developers.

For businesses and developers that need more than 450 million tokens per day or want to optimize their workloads based on hardware performance, OpenAI is providing dedicated instances. Developers can use the computing power of Azure through the dedicated tokens, which connect to user endpoints and offer a specialized lane for AI processing.

Snapchat, Quizlet, and Instacart utilize OpenAI’s ChatGPT API for their features: My AI, Q-Chat, and Ask Instacart. These features offer virtual tutoring, study assistance, and shoppable answers that are based on product data. The decreased cost of ChatGPT API is great news for marketers and businesses who want to use ChatGPT as part of their customer service and engagement plans.

Below we listed different types of ChatGPT API pricing plans that OpenAI released recently.

ChatGPT API Pricing Plan

The cost of ChatGPT API depends on the number of tokens used, which includes the message string and metadata that the model processes. The current cost for 1000 tokens is $0.002, which roughly translates to 750 words. OpenAI has made ChatGPT API more affordable for developers and businesses by decreasing its price to $0.002 for every 1,000 tokens or approximately 750 words.

This is a 90% reduction since December 2022. The ChatGPT model was built using the GPT-3.5 turbo model and can be adapted for other non-chat applications with minimal changes to the code.
OpenAI has eliminated its pre-launch review policy, which mandated that developers indicate how they planned to use the model before incorporating it into their app. The latest model, gpt-3.5-turbo, will be supported until June, and a new stable release of the gpt-3.5-turbo is also releasing soon.

Developers will be given the choice to adopt stable models or specific models according to their needs.
