With the release of OpenAI large language model (LLM) GPT-4, which powers the highly popular ChatGPT and Bing AI. The company’s plans for GPT-5 have already started making waves in the AI world, with rumors of its release date and expected features circulating widely over the internet. CEO and Co-found Sam Altman, recently confirmed they are not currently training GPT-5 in a recent interview.

In this article, we will delve deeper into any rumors or news around a future GPT-5 release date. There is nothing official on dates, however we will look into what we know about this model, and what to expect from this highly anticipated language model. As per these rumors, OpenAI is aiming to complete the AGI training of GPT-5 by the end in 2024, which is a significant milestone that signifies the AI’s ability to perform any task that a human can. While OpenAI has not yet made any official statements regarding GPT-5, the buzz around its release is palpable.

GPT 5 release speculation & rumors

According to a tweet by developer Siqi Chen, OpenAI is scheduled to complete the training period of GPT-5 by the end of the year. However, this goes against Sam Altmans recent words, plus OpenAI has not confirmed any information regarding the release date of GPT-5, so it’s best not to raise any expectations until an official announcement is made.

It is speculated that GPT-5 could possess mind-blowing functionalities compared to its previous versions. But until OpenAI officially announces the features and release date of GPT-5, we can only speculate. There are rumors about the potential capabilities of GPT-5, which suggest that it could have significantly more parameters than its predecessor, GPT-4. We hope to see GPT-5 have up to 100 times more parameters, making it one of the largest neural networks ever created with an estimated 17.5 trillion parameters but predictions like this have been wrong before.

Whether or not GPT-5 will be capable of achieving Artificial General Intelligence is a question impossible to answer at this stage, but it would be a significant milestone in the development of AI systems if true.

Will there be a GPT-5?

While GPT 5 is only speculated at the moment it is highly likely to replace the current model in the future.

How powerful will GPT-5 be?

All conjecture at this stage but it is believed to potentially use 200-400 X more computing than GPT 3.
