RTX 4080 size – more clearance issues?
It's less powered than the flagship but how does the 4080 compare in terms of size
The GeForce RTX 4080, which has 9,728 CUDA cores and a maximum boost rate of 2.51 GHz, is quite similar to the GeForce RTX 4090. A 256-bit wide bus and 16GB of GDDR6X memory are included in the memory specs. A 16-pin power connector delivers the 320W reference power rating of the GPU.
As ASUS is placing the RTX 4080 graphics card in the same design as its RTX 4090 cards, it will have the exact physical dimensions as those cards. Additionally, the RTX 4080 is utilizing the cooling from the RTX 4090. Due to its enormous size, gamers will want to confirm the case compatibility in advance.
Gigabyte has several cards in the works, including five 4080 SKUs. It has a length of 342mm and slightly under 4 PCIe slots, making it a huge GPU as well. The Galax RTX 4080 ST/SG has a monochromatic design with a strong emphasis on RGB lighting.
The RGB lighting on the card stands out thanks to the matte and glossy black finishes on the shroud. The lighting is present on every surface of the card, including the sides and corners and between the triple fan cooler design.
Additionally, it has lightning-inspired design queues. Galax’s 4080 cards are slightly thinner than their 4090 counterparts, measuring 66mm instead of 74mm. Therefore, the RTX 4080 cards from the Galax are a little bit thinner than the 4090 series.
Therefore, despite the fact that the RTX 4080 has a lower power consumption rating than the 4090, their overall sizes are quite similar, if not the same, in some cases. Therefore, you are out of luck for the time being if you were expecting to switch from the 4090 to a smaller card that would fit in your current PC case.
The GeForce RTX 4080 will not appear smaller than the RTX 4090 overall based on these three brands, though it has a significantly lower power consumption rating. While it may increase the GPU’s capacity for overclocking, these cards will still experience the same issues with case compatibility as the RTX 4090.
