The RTX 2060 is aimed at the little grey area between 1080p and 1440p, it can do the former fantastically, but it struggles more in the latter, whilst the card can do 1440p with lower graphics settings, its efficiency truly lies within 1080p, so we need to find a CPU that can keep up with the RTX 2060 pushing a lot of frames in 1080p. So, what is the best CPU for RTX 2060?

Every single GPU, no matter how powerful, needs a CPU behind them to keep the GPU pushing pixels. It’s important we find a CPU that won’t slow the GPU down or create any kind of bottleneck on either side. And we think that we have just the CPU.
Without further delay, here’s the best CPU for the RTX 2060.
Best CPU for RTX 2060
The Best CPU for the RTX 2060 Is the Ryzen 5 5600X.
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Speed
3.7GHz/ 4.6GHz
Core (Threads)
6/12
Socket
AM4
TDP
65W
The Ryzen 5 5600X is one of if not the best Price-to-performance CPUs available to date. Its substantial 6-Core and 12-Thread configurations mean it’s capable of light workstation tasks too, in addition to gaming.
The 4.6GHz CPU max core speed suggests that the 5600X can handle gaming very well, as we know that a CPU’s max boost speed is correlated directly with gaming performance.
The 5600X is incredibly efficient, and the 5600X’s low power consumption makes it a great choice for those with a lesser power supply, or those who are a little conscious of the amount of power they consume. The TDP stands at 65W, almost 200W less than some of the competition’s Raptor Lake flagships.
With the 5600X, you won’t have to worry about upgrading your hardware. This is because the 5600X stands on the most widely supported socket in the world, AM4, and AMD promised to keep supporting it for a few more years to come, so there’s definitely no shortage of parts.
Best Budget CPU for RTX 2070
The best budget CPU for the RTX 2070 has to be the i5-12600K.
Intel Core i5-12600KF
Boost clock speed (single core)
4.9 GHz
Total Cores / Threads
10/16
P-cores
6
E-cores
4
Socket
LGA 1700
Overclockable
Yes
Although the 12600K has more cores, threads, and a higher boost speed, because of the 12600K’s bank of E-Cores, the 5600X still comes out on top as a better “all-around” processor. However, the 12600K is still definitely cheaper and can be found for a slightly better deal. The 12600K is still a very viable CPU, only bottlenecking the RTX 2070 slightly more than the 5600X.
Final Word
Both of the CPUs here today are phenomenal CPUs for the RTX 2070. Both of them have the cores, threads, and core speed required to properly support it without causing much of a bottleneck in either 1080p or 1440p. Just don’t stray too far lower than our recommendations, doing so will cause a larger bottleneck. Worsening the performance of the RTX 2070.
