Amazon’s own products will no doubt play a large part in the deals for the Prime Day event with prices potentially dropping even lower than last Black Friday.

Since this is Amazon Prime Day’s 6th anniversary, this event is expected to feature the best Prime Day deals ever.

It’s likely that you already know what Amazon Prime Day is, however not everyone has taken advantage of this huge sale bonanza before. Below we will go into exactly what Amazon Prime Day is, any differences to previous years, and whether or not it is worth signing up to Prime for the event.

Amazon celebrated their 20th year with a blast in 2015 and hosted an event called Prime Day. The event is similar to Black Friday but usually set in July with tons of deals from Amazon basics to 4K monitors. And they seemed to like it, as the event has continued annually ever since.

This year’s Prime Day has been delayed multiple times already due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But, we finally have confirmation that Prime Day 2020 is October 13th – 14th – so not much longer to wait.

This year’s Prime Day could feature the highest amount of deals yet, with it being the 6th anniversary of the event. Amazon always has deals running throughout the year, but Prime members will enjoy the largest of those deals during this event.

You can find big deals on Alexa-enabled products, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and much more. We have listed specific products and deals below, so make sure you check them out. You can check out some deals currently available if you are getting a little bit impatient for the upcoming sale.

Amazon have announced some early Prime Day deals already across some of their own products (as well as a few others). So you don’t have to hang around if you want to start saving money now.

Looking back at the previous Amazon Prime Day events, it seems they are often quite similar. You’ll be getting tons of discounts and great deals, but there’s actually more to it than meets the eye.

Even though we now have event confirmation, this year is already different thanks to the COVID-19 situation. The sale usually takes place in the summer, whereas 2020 is set to land in October – in time for some great deals to take place before we gear up for Black Friday. I also wouldn’t be surprised if delivery is seriously affected this year as we continue to battle the pandemic.

We are expecting some of the biggest and best deals we have ever seen from an Amazon Prime Day event this year as they always seem to outdo themselves. These deals will potentially include Apple products, TV’s, Amazon products, and much more.

Signing up to Amazon Prime just for the Prime Day is worth it if you haven’t already taken advantage of the free trial they offer. Signing up a few days before with the free trial will give you access to all these wonderful deals without costing you any extra pennies!

Unfortunately, If you’ve canceled a Prime membership in the last 12 months, you won’t qualify for the free 30-day trial. Signing up to Prime for a month ($13) is your next option and may be worth it depending on how big your list of desired items has grown to. Amazon Prime membership costs $120 a year and an item or two – or even three items – is unlikely to make up for the cost of the subscription. Nonetheless, if your primary purpose of signing up is to get as many items as you can from the two-day free shipping, then I’d say sign up now and get the best exclusive deals you can grab.

The Amazon marketplace is flooded with different products, some new, and some more outdated. It is important you don’t just buy the first deal you see and make sure the product you are buying is actually of good value.

Spotting a real deal from a terrible deal just takes a bit of patience and, in some cases, a little bit of internet scrolling. A good way to avoid being ripped off is to simply make a list of what you desire most from the sale and stick to it.

The best way to go in prepared is to make a wishlist ahead of time so you don’t have to try searching for what you want amid the panic of deals expiring.

Amazon isn’t the only website you should keep an eye on. Their annual Amazon Prime Day made a huge impact in the e-commerce industry. In fact, you might also want to keep an eye on other websites like Walmart and Best Buy because chances are they might also drop their prices even lower.

Amazon Prime student members will get all the same access to the deals as regular members do. If you weren’t aware and are currently a student with an edu email address you can sign up to prime for six months free of charge!

Lightning deals are basically limited time and limited stock deals that Amazon runs.

Often the lightning deals will come and go quite fast, so Amazon has added some features to these specific deals that make the user experience a bit more friendly. You will be able to see what percentage of the featured items have been purchased/ is sitting in a customer’s basket. You’ll see what savings are to be made and what discount has been added.

There is also a timer added onto these product pages, so you must complete your purchase within 15 minutes. Otherwise, the item will be available to someone else.

Fortunately, Amazon is considerate enough to offer every Prime member an opportunity to get notified should the item be placed back on the lightning deals. All you have to do is join the waitlist here, and you will be notified the second the item is available.

Joining the waitlist sends an alert in the upper right-hand corner of your Amazon.com page when the deal is available. If you’re using a phone, download the Amazon App and turn the notifications on to get real-time updates when the item is available.

But aside from having to wait around for notifications, you can also visit the Amazon Deals page and sort the page by “upcoming deals”. This should give you some time to prepare before a deal goes live.
