Running your phone at all hours to play Blue Archive can get a little… tiresome. Especially for your battery! So does Blue Archive work on a PC? Don’t we all just wish these games would have straight-up PC ports at this point? Well, luckily, it actually does!

Blue Archive works great on BlueStacks, with my testing on my work PC (a lowly 3400G, 16GB of RAM) and home PC (RTX2070, Ryzen 2700X and 32GB of RAM), has pretty much confirmed that the game works great on BlueStacks 5!

What is BlueStacks?

BlueStacks is one of the major emulators on PC for bringing Android games to the platform. It currently emulates a Samsung S8 (according to my phone) and can run both 32-bit and 64-bit apps. You’ll need to run a 64-bit ‘instance’, which they have a handy guide for on their website, as this will help the game run better.

It’s not a particularly demanding game, but it’s still recommended you have a fairly decent PC, or it might be best to just go grab that charger from your bedroom.

The neat thing about this is that you can – if you have the option – run missions in the corner of your screen while you work or do something else, as Blue Archive pretty much plays itself. Team compositions would have to be interacted with, but what’s the big deal, really?

BlueStacks 5 will actually have you turn off virtualisation in your BIOS – this is motherboard dependent – but if you’ve never emulated anything before, you actually shouldn’t have any reason to go in and fiddle with the settings.

Look, if you’re going to ‘acquire’ paid Android APK files, sideload them into BlueStacks and then run them, then no. That’s not legal. But setting up a virtualised instance of the Android software with games tied to your account, that’s cool as chips on a cold day!

In fact, some games straight-up support BlueStacks themselves, which you’ll see featured in the bottom row when you load the application up each time. These games will rotate out and you can usually find some neat things in there too.

Is Blue Archive on BlueStacks X?

Not yet. BlueStacks X (their streaming service) is currently very early out the doors, which as well, the BlueStacks X library is fairly small, which is understandable. It’s a process of getting things to run in the cloud in a comfortable way and I don’t think you’ll see it on the streaming service for a long time.

The game is in their database to download though for your own version of BlueStacks, so be sure to give it a whirl!
